The Minnesota Wild were cruising right along with the best record in the NHL but then came consecutive 5-2 losses at home to Edmonton and Calgary. Before the two-game skid, the Minnesota Wild had won 10 of their previous 12 games.
Head coach Mike Yeo watched from the bench Sunday as his team gave up soft goals early and was outshot 35-21 by a Flames team that had lost three straight games. Afterwards, Yeo said, "The good news as we get ready for Monday night's game against Tampa Bay is we cannot play any worse!"
Change was in the air Monday morning as the Wild reassigned defenseman Nate Prosser and center Warren Peters to Houston and recalled forwards Casey Wellman and David McIntyre. McIntyre, acquired this offseason from the New Jersey Devils for Maxim Noreau, made his NHL debut against Tampa Bay Monday night.
Apple Valley native Mike Lundin also made his Wild debut Monday night, the former Tampa Bay defenseman had been out all season with back issues.
