The Rangers now lead the series 2-1 with game 4 coming up on Monday evening. It was a back and forth game until the 3rd period when Dan Girardi scored on the power play early in the 3rd then the Rangers added two more goals to close out the game. Rangers found as much offense as they needed, now the Devils must figure out a way to put some pucks past Lundqvist. Here’s Jim Hughson of HNIC with the Girardi goal…

The importance of a two game lead

Here’s an interesting statistic for you: The Rangers are unbeaten in Games 1, 3, and 7 this postseason. They are a perfect 8-0 in those games. Another interesting stat: The Rangers haven’t won in Games 2 or 4 this postseason. They are a combined 0-6 in those games. Scary, right? In fact, the Rangers have never built a two game lead during these playoffs. The Blueshirts have a...

New York Rangers winger Brandon Prust has been suspended for one game by the NHL for his elbow to New Jersey Dgvils defenseman Anton Volchenkov on Saturday, the league announced Sunday. As a result, Prust will sit out Monday's Game 4 against the Devils, with the Rangers leading the series 2-1. Prust received no penalty on the play, which occurred during the Rangers' 3...

Patrick Warburton, who played rabid Devils fan David Puddy on Seinfeld, was born in Jersey and while he's loyal to the Devils, he grew up in California, so he's a Kings fan, too.

Zach Parise’s Dad Clarifies Comments

from Tom Gulitti of Fire & Ice, J.P. Parise issued a statement to the reporters that cover the Devils this evening to clarify his comments today in Newsday, which were portrayed to suggest his son, Zach, - the Devils captain – might sign with the Rangers as an unrestricted free agent this summer. “I have to say I was extremely disappointed in how my comments were portrayed...

The Double-Edged Sword of John Tortorella

I don’t think anyone can question that John Tortorella is a top-notch coach. He changed the culture of a perennial last place team in Tampa and won the Stanley Cup in 2004. He came to the Rangers mid-season in 2009 and has transformed the Blueshirts into a hardworking blue collar defensive team. The kind of scrappy group that wins on guts and grit. The kind that New York loves...

NHL Playoff Observations -- Saturday

Just a few things that caught my eye ... King Conn -- Henrik Lundqvist is an absolute beast. This series should be 3-0 based on the performance of the Devils. Instead, it's 2-1 Rangers. Chris Keider is a special player. Not only did he set an NHL record for most playoff goals (five) before even suiting up in a regular-season tilt, but he was humble and...

Kovalchuk, Devils denied by Lundqvist

Ilya Kovalchuk wound up for a hard one-timer in the third period, only to see it gobbled up again by Henrik Lundqvist. The New Jersey Devils' biggest scoring threat shoved his stick back into his hand like he was jamming it into a holster and skated away with more frustration etched on his face. It was that kind of a day again for the Devils against the New York Rangers'...

Rangers blank Devils in Game 3

Henrik Lundqvist stopped all 36 shots, and Dan Girardi, Chris Kreider and Ryan Callahan scored third-period goals to lead the New York Rangers to a 3-0 win over the New Jersey Devils in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Saturday. The Rangers scored two goals only 1 minute, 57 seconds apart early in the third to help them take a 2-1 series lead. Lundqvist was busy from...

Devils Looking to Protect Home Ice

Tom Gulitti at the Bergen Record has this from the Devils on protecting home ice...Ilya Kovalchuk..."That's our goal. You want to protect our home ice like we did against Philly. So, I think those two games will be crucial. I think the Rangers play a little different on the road too than they do at home, so we've go to take advantage of that. Every team, they're...

Devils Coach Peter DeBoer Says Brandon Prust is “Head-Hunting”

Following a brutal hit to the back of New Jersey Devils defenseman Anton Volchenkov’s head, Devils head coach Peter DeBoer accused New York Rangers forward Brandon Prust, the perpetrator of the hit on Volchenkov, of head-hunting. In his post-game press conference following the Devils’ loss in Game 3 of their Eastern Conference Final against the Rangers, DeBoer said that Prust’s...

Martin Brodeur on Rangers fans in NJ: ““They are the ones with money, I guess”

The New Jersey Devils suffered a tough defeat yesterday at the hands of cross-river rival, the New York Rangers. Heading into their first game at home in the series at the Prudential Center, the Devils had exactly what they wanted. The fans were a rockin’ at the uh, Rock, for the first two periods, but [...]
