According to Jim Jamieson of the province, there will be no suspension or fine for Vancouver Canuck Dale Weise following his hit on Edmonton Oilers defenceman Alex Plante on Monday night.
NHL VP of player safety Brendan Shanahan looked at the video of the hit but opted not to hold a hearing with Weise, so there will not be a suspension. It’s still possible Weise could be fined or receive a warning about the hit, however.

There are of course several Oilers fans and media on both sides of the debate, but Sportsnet’s Mark Spector has written an excellent piece on charging and why Weise should not have been suspended that is not only well written but reasonable but draws into question where player accountability is going.
