The Edmonton Oilers have started to turn things around since hitting a season low point in their last meeting with the Nashville Predators. Jordan Eberle led the way with a goal and an assist in the Oilers' 3-2 victory over the Predators on Sunday. Magnus Paajarvi and Lennart Petrell also scored for the Oilers, who have captured seven out of eight points since losing 6-0 in Nashville on March 8. ''We had to decide after that game what kind of season this was going to be,'' Oilers coach Ralph Krueger said. ''Ever since we followed up that loss with a win in Chicago there has been a different swagger in the group. A different belief. I'm pleased it paid off with the two points tonight. ''These are huge points and it is a big step. We had a shot at catching Nashville nine days ago and they beat us 6-0. We had a shot at catching them again tonight and we were able to do it. It's a good time for that to happen.'' Edmonton moved fr...

Sergei Kostitsyn gives up on play, leads to Oilers shorthanded goal (Video)

Nashville Predators forward Sergei Kostitsyn took the most inopportune time to head to the bench for a line change during Sunday's game, and his team paid for it as the Edmonton Oilers scored a short-handed goal that made the difference in the game. During a Predators power play in the third period, Kostitsyn mishandled a pass and allowed the puck to travel outside the blue...

Looks like the Predators have recalled forward Taylor Beck…

According to Milwaukee Admirals winger Michael Liambas (via Twitter), the Nashville Predators have recalled Taylor Beck. Beck leads all Admirals in scoring with 41 points in 50 games. The Niagra Falls, Ontario, native was a third round draft pick of the Predators in 2009. If he suits up Tuesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets, it will be his NHL debut. Sergei Kostitsyn gives up on play, Oilers score

Nashville's Sergei Kostitsyn has some explaining to do. After failing to handle a pass, Kostitsyn abandoned the play, allowing Sam Gagner of the Edmonton Oilers to carry the puck in and dish it to Lennart Petrell who was able to tally a relatively easy shorthanded goal.  Chalk this up as one of the most baffling, lazy plays we've seen so far in 2013.  There are...

Press Release: Beck recalled

Today, the Preds announced they have recalled Taylor Beck from the AHL and have placed Paul Gaustad on IR...

So Edmonton, You Want Corey Perry?

Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal answers some email... Q: If the Edmonton Oilers were to give up one of their young players, would it be realistic to think they could acquire Corey Perry from the Anaheim Ducks? He’s won a Stanley Cup, he’s a 50-goal scorer, he’s a tough, hard-nosed player. He would seem to be the player the Oilers need. A: The only way the Oilers...

VIDEO: Kostitsyn quits on Edmonton’s eventual second goal…

We’ve seen Jason Arnott lag on the backcheck. We’ve seen Martin Erat make turnover after turnover inside the attacking zone. We’ve even seen Niclas Bergfors released for not playing defense. But we’ve never seen a Nashville Predator quit in the middle of a play. (Special thanks to SBNation for the video) Sergei Kostitsyn barely tried to muscle Edmonton Oilers winger Sam...

Predators @ Edmonton Oilers (Game 29): Preview

The Nashville Predators end their Western Canadian road trip before heading to Columbus to take on the Blue Jackets Sunday night against the Edmonton Oilers. The Predators are ranked 10th in the Western Conference with a 11-11-6 record and 28 points. The Oilers are 10-11-6 with 26 points and ranked 14th in the West. Puck drops at 7:07pm CT. TV/Radio Coverage Nashville:...

Kostitsyn's bonehead move proves to be costly

The Nashville Predators return to the United States with nothing positive coming out of their Western Canadian road trip. They lost their third in-a-row to the Edmonton Oilers, 3-2 on St. Patrick's Day. “Instead of finding ways to win games, we are finding way to lose them. It isn’t good enough,” said goal scorer Roman Josi. Nashville can’t seem to capitalize on their...

Cheer Up, It’s Not All that Bad!

Predators' Roster = Garbage Eclair If I know my readers, and I like to think that I do, you’re likely a little unsettled by the unabashedly positive title to this blog entry.  Before you go jumping to conclusions that I’ve suffered some sort of head injury, found religion, or made some kind of consciousness transposition with Kris Martel, you should probably note the image...

Evening Line With Video Evidence

“I made a mistake. I went to change, I should have backchecked, but didn’t see the second guy was coming there.” “Even if it was a 1-on-1, I should go back, it doesn’t matter if I was tired. I should have gone back and pressured him from behind.” -Sergei Kostitsyn of the Nashville Predators, via Josh Cooper of The Tennessean.

Predators-Oilers Preview

While they've had trouble getting consistent efforts lately, the Nashville Predators dominated the Edmonton Oilers earlier this month. The Predators will try avoid a third straight loss and reverse their road woes by beating the Oilers again Sunday night. Nashville (11-11-6) has lost six of its last eight overall, but it hardly looked like a struggling team when it hosted Edmonton...

Game 29: Nashville @ Edmonton – WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Photo by Frederick Breedon/Getty Images Many Predators fans thought the 6-0 drubbing of the Oilers a week ago was a sign of things to come, a turning over of a new leaf after a dismal West Coast road trip. The Predators lost Hornqvist in that game and Colin Wilson the next night but earned points in the next two games…that is until Vancouver and Calgary hung a combined 13 goals...

Predators @ Columbus - Game 30 Preview

It's rough days for the Nashville Predators as they are slowly distancing themselves from the playoff race. They went 0-3 in the West coast, with Rinne getting chased twice. The Preds actually managed to score 9 goals in the three game trip, (0.8 more goals/game than their season average), but they let allowed 16 goals against, which, of course, just isn't good. Nashville...

Game 30: Nashville @ Columbus – WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Photo by Frederick Breedon/Getty Images The Predators wrap up their five-game road trip with a visit to Nationwide Arena taking on the Columbus Blue Jackets to see who will be in last place in the Central division. This road trip has been a world of hurt for the Predators getting slammed by Vancouver and Calgary and snatching defeat from the jaws of a possibly victory against Edmonton...

Nashville falls to Edmonton 3-2, sets up a pivotal showdown with Columbus on Tuesday

Photo Credit: Andy Devlin/NHLI via Getty Images After a inexplicable series of events Sunday night against Edmonton to drop the game 3-2 and stretch their losing streak to 3 games, the Predators are now mired in a 4-9-2 slump. This sets up a strangely familiar and very important match-up with Central Division foe Columbus on Tuesday night at Nationwide Arena. Most won’t (and don’t...
