Edmonton Oilers goalie Devan Dubnyk has left Sunday night's game against the Chicago Blackhawks after a collision at the net in the second period. Dubnyk made a nice pad save on a streaking Marian Hossa before the posts were dislodged when the right winger and Edmonton center Teemu Hartikainen converged on the goal. Hartikainen practically skated over the prone Dubnyk, who was down for several minutes before he was escorted from the ice. A trainer appeared to be examining Dubnyk's head and neck. Yann Danis came in for the Oilers, who had a 4-2 lead at the time of the injury.

Devan Dubnyk Lets In Flukey Goal From Center Ice

This has got to be a goalie’s worst nightmare, especially for Devan Dubnyk, who has been under the microscope recently in Edmonton. Nashville’s David Legwand dumped the puck into the offensive zone, presumably to make a line change, but the puck ended up bouncing right past Dubnyk and into the Oilers net. We’ve seen plenty of flukey goals blasted in from the red line, but this...

Reeling Edmonton Oilers welcome back Shawn Horcoff

Perhaps captain Shawn Horcoff can save the Edmonton Oilers. That reeling team desperately needs a turning point and his return from a broken knuckle could provide that. With Horcoff in the lineup this season, the Oilers are 4-2-1. Without Horcoff, the team is 4-9-4.When healthy, he anchors Edmonton’s match-up line against the opponent’s top scorers. He will resume that role when...

Oilers send 'Hawks on losing streak

Sam Gagner scored two of Edmonton's four goals in the first period and the Oilers beat Chicago 6-5 on Sunday night, sending the Blackhawks to their second consecutive loss after their record-breaking start. Ryan Whitney and Taylor Hall each had a goal and an assist for Edmonton, which snapped a five-game losing streak. Captain Shawn Horcoff also scored as the Oilers went 3 for...

Richard Cloutier: Oilers at the Trade Deadline!

The Edmonton Oilers will be in a strange position this year at the NHL Trade Deadline. It's creeping up on us...only 23 days away. Games-wise, only 10 games away. Of those 10, seven will be home games. While the Oilers aren't in a playoff position now, win 7 of 10 over the stretch and the Oilers could be buyers instead of sellers at the deadline. The Western Conference...

Richard Cloutier: The Shawn Horcoff Miracle

I had to go watch this Oz movie on the weekend. You know, the Wizard of Oz prequel? Disney is shameless, and Mila Kunis is in black leather pants... I don't have much to say in this blog so I'll keep it brief. Why is everyone losing their minds over the wonderful, marvelous, awesome, incredible Shawn Horcoff? Come on people, have you all lost your minds? Residual damage...

Video- Devan Dubnyk With The Bad Goal Of The Night

David Legwand scores from center ice.

David Legwand beats Devan Dubnyk on one-hopper from the red line

Nashville Predators forward David Legwand was dumping the puck in for a line-change late in the first period.  Legwand flipped the puck in the air, and as it was on edge, it skipped at the hash marks and went off the bottom of Edmonton Oilers goalie Devan Dybnyk’s glove into the net.  Pucks that are on edge and bounce right in front of you are extremely difficult for goalies...

Edmonton Oilers: the Blackhawks Problem Child

If there is one team the Blackhawks have had a problem with in recent history, it's the high-octane Oilers and their young offense. Dating back to the 2010-2011 regular season, the Oilers have put together a 5-3-1 record against the Blackhawks. Fairly impressive for a basement dweller coming off three straight years with the No. 1 overall draft choice. Leading the charge for...
