Sunday's New York City Marathon was a record breaking event, and i dont mean just in the number of attendees or the fact that course records were all but abolished. The event was highly publicized and thanks to a few big time names, raised alot of money for alot of great causes. Among the big timers were 8-time Olympic speed skating medalist Apollo Anton Ohno, six-time stanley cup champion Mark Messier, and two time Olympic softball gold medalist Jenny Finch. All three of these athletes made their contribution to their cause and did it in style. Ohno raised $26,000 for Special Olympics from Subway, simply by finishing the race in under 4 hours. And as Ohno, 29, says, “This actually hurts my short-track training, but the toughness you can gain from this crazy marathon is applicable.” For Ohno the cause was more than just a minor set back in his short track training, and seeing as he has close to 3 years to go before he sets foot on the Olympic stage again. I guess you could sa...

Rangers Looking to Dan Girardi for Leadership

The New York Rangers have been without alternate captain Marc Staal since the beginning of the season, which is a situation that I think everyone is aware of by now. In his place has stepped in Dan Girardi, who's been given Staal's "A" for the time being. So far, Girardi has accepted the responsibility that comes along with wearing a letter and has made the best...

The Good Erik Christensen

Erik Christensen could be one of the most infuriating New York Rangers skaters of all time. When he wants to be, Christensen is one of the most skilled players on the team. The problem is of course the phrase “when he wants to be.” During his first seven games of the year, Christensen was invisible, and played poorly both with the puck and without the puck. The last four games...

New York Rangers Discovering Formula for Success

The start of the 2011-2012 season for the New York Rangers did not go according to plan. Though the team lost in the first round of the 2011 playoffs, the development of some of the organization’s young, core players, combined with critical offseason acquisitions, created realistic expectations that this might be a year in which the team made significant strides. Though the topic...

Anisimov & Stepan Elevate Their Games

Jim Cerny at Blueshirts United says that Artem Anisimov and Derek Stepan have been able to elevate their games since being placed on a line with Marian Gaborik. Here's Gaborik on his new linemates..."Step is really strong with the puck, and is playing with a lot of confidence," noted Gaborik. "And Artie is doing a real good job on left wing, a spot I don't think...

Let's Get Girardi Apparel in Rangers Team Store

Michael Gleich at Bleeding All Blue is fed up with the Rangers not having Dan Girardi apparel in the team store at Madison Square Garden and this is what he wants Rangers fans to do about it..."From what I have been told, the reason that no Girardi merchandise is available in the stores at MSG is because it is not a requested item by the fans. Time for us to change that fact...

Rangers' Anisimov Continues To Grow Before Our Eyes

<span style="font-size: 12.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">Artem Anisimov an excellent sophomore season with the New York Rangers last year watching his production go from 28 points (12G, 16A) to 44 points (18G, 26A).  Anisimov found a home playing with Brandon Dubinsky and Ryan Callahan on the team’s best line last season....

Video: Rangers Discuss 3-0 Win Over Jets

Slow day for the Rangers today as they did not practice, so I decided to throw up some player comments following last night's win over the Winnipeg Jets at MSG. It seems like the team is finally enjoying themselves and feeling confident now that they have established some stability on home ice with four straight wins. Take a look...    Wojtek Wolski was scheduled to see...

Trade: Rangers Acquire Francois Bouchard From Capitals

… not to sure about who Bouchard is but I see the Rangers have finally given up on Kundratek. During the 2006-07 QMJHL season, Bouchard led the league in points with 125.

Rangers acquire Bouchard in swap of minor leaguers

The injury-plagued Rangers acquired minor league forward Francois Bouchard from the Washington Capitals for minor league defenseman Tomas Kundratek.
