Goals by Daniel Paille and Patrice Bergeron after a scoreless first period gave the Boston Bruins a 2-0 lead over the Chicago Blackhawks through two periods in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup finals Monday night. With the series tied 1-1, the Blackhawks suffered a key loss moments before the game when forward Marian Hossa was scratched from the lineup after being hit by a puck during warm-ups. Paille, who scored in overtime to give Boston's a 2-1 win in Game 2, gave the Bruins the lead at 2:13 of the second period with a slap shot from the right circle. Tyler Seguin's hard shot from the left side was saved by Corey Crawford and the puck went to the right corner. Chris Kelly got it away from Dave Bolland and passed to Paille for a quick shot, his fourth goal of the postseason. Bergeron made it 2-0 with his seventh playoff goal on a power play at 14:05, just 5 seconds after Boston's two-man advantage ended. Jaromir Jagr held the puck a few feet to the left of Crawford and p...

Patrice Bergeron Continues to Impress With Dominant All-Around Effort in Bruins’ Game 3 Win

BOSTON — A day before Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final, the NHL announced that Jonathan Toews was the recipient of the Selke Trophy as the league’s best defensive forward. After three games of the Cup Final, however, the voters that opted for Toews over Patrice Bergeron — a handful of them from Chicago, no doubt — might be rethinking that decision. The Bruins took a 2-1 series...

Tyler Seguin Mic’d up during Daniel Paille’s Game 2 Overtime winner

The NHL has had some fantastic luck with the players they have chosen to mic up during their games.  In the triple overtime Game 1 thriller, the game-winning goal scorer Andrew Shaw was mic’d up.  This time in overtime of Game 2, Tyler Seguin was mic’d up and he set up the game-winning goal.  A lot of it had to be edited out because of Seguin swearing, but if I’m a Bruins...

Patrice Bergeron Scores Goal Off Bizarre Bankshot From Zdeno Chara (Video)

A shot from Zdeno Chara deflected off the goalie, off the back glass, off the top of the net, then off Patrice Bergeron‘s stick and into the back of the net. Just how Claude Julien wrote it up. Not quite, but the unorthodox goal reduced the Bruins deficit to one in the final minutes of the second period. Less than two minutes after Blackhawks center Marcus Kruger gave Chicago...

ESPN isn’t so good at this whole “hockey” thing

Immediately following Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Bruins and Blackhawks, ESPN’s SportsCenter account figured they’d try their hand at tackling this whole “hockey” phenomenon with an exciting tweet recapping the game. Unfortunately, nobody told them that Daniel Paille, NOT Tyler Seguin, netted the game-winner for Boston. The tweet was quickly deleted and all...
