Martin St. Louis
Tampa Bay Lightning
The Tampa Bay Lightning have long been out of the Eastern Conference playoff race, but Martin St. Louis and Steven Stamkos are still in a race of their own.
Either one could win the Art Ross Trophy in the season finale Saturday night when the Lightning try to extend their point streak over the league-worst Florida Panthers to nine.
The Lightning (18-25-4) will miss the playoffs for the second straight season despite a 6-1-0 start that was Tampa Bay's best since 2003-04. The club's fortunes went downhill quickly after that, eventually costing Guy Boucher his job late last month.
With everything that's gone wrong with the team of current coach Jon Cooper - Tampa Bay lost 2-0 to Boston on Thursday in its latest contest - the solid play of St. Louis and Stamkos has been a constant. With his seventh career hat trick in a 5-2 win over Toronto on Wednesday, St. Louis improved his league-best point total to 58.
Stamkos, who has 29 goals and trails Washington's Alex Ovech...

TAMPA, Fla. This season has long been lost for the Tampa Bay Lightning, from a strong start (6-1) wasted in February, to a coaching change (Guy Boucher to Jon Cooper) in March to an end Saturday night that signifies how much of a contradiction these 48 games became.

The Tampa Bay Lightning will be moving into a new division next year as the NHL realigns its teams, but that’s nothing new for the relatively young franchise.
Despite only existing for 20 years, the Lightning will be moving into its fourth division for the 2013-14 season, a long way from their humble beginnings in the Norris Division. Yes, that’s where the Tampa Bay franchise...
As far as playoff implications go, the Bruins’ final three games do have huge significance. It remains to be determined whether the B’s will beat out Montreal for the Northeast Division crown and the No. 2 seed, but they are guaranteed a spot in the postseason.
Boston would certainly like to gain some momentum heading into the playoffs, though, as the team has dropped five of...
The Tampa Bay Lightning are celebrating their 20th season in the NHL, but for some of us, it still feels like yesterday that they were the new kids on the block.
In their first season, they hosted opponents in Tampa’s 11,000-seat Expo Hall at the Florida State Fairgrounds and finished with just 23 wins (sadly, that’s not even close to their worst season). It took them four seasons...

The final game of the Lightning season played out just like how the entire season has. An inconsistent game played on both ends of the ice resulted in a 5-3 loss to the Panthers. The NHL points leader Martin St. Louis broke a 2-2 tie in the second when his wrist shot from the side of the crease to make it 3-2. But two third period goals by Florida put the Bolts down 4-3 before...
3 regular season left before Boston heads into the NHL's second season. 3 games left to prove to the city of Boston that this team isn't the floundering mess they've shown the past 6 games or so. Tonight's game is a make-up game for Nemo. When these two teams were going to meet, this is what I wrote about Tampa:
I'll be honest with you guys...
8 a.m. ET: Perhaps the best news for the Bruins heading into Thursday’s game with the Tampa Bay Lightning is that there is no snow in the forecast. Thursday’s game was originally scheduled for Feb. 9, but a snowstorm of historic proportions pounded Boston and forced a postponement.
Now it’s part of what’s been a jam-packed schedule for the Bruins all the way up into the final...
