The Florida Panthers signed top draft pick Jonathan Huberdeau to an entry-level contract Monday.
Huberdeau, 18, the third overall pick in this year's draft, was sent back to the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
He will not be eligible to join the Panthers until his QMJHL season is over.
Huberdeau appeared in five games with the Panthers in the preseason, notching three goals and an assist.
He was one of the top players in the QMJHL last season, scoring 42 goals and adding 62 assists in 67 games with the Saint John Sea Dogs.
