Patrice Bergeron‘s rehab is officially complete.  Bruins head coach Claude Julien told reporters Friday that Bergeron will be in the lineup Saturday night when the team travels to Detroit to play the Red Wings.  The center has been on the ice with the team throughout training camp, but he has not suited up for a game since Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final. After the Bruins were eliminated by Chicago, it was revealed that Bergeron had suffered a punctured left lung, a fractured rib, torn rib cartilage and a separated right shoulder during the postseason.  Saturday will mark the debut of Boston’s revamped second line, with newcomer Loui Eriksson filling the spot alongside Bergeron and Brad Marchand vacated by the departure of Tyler Seguin. The three have been skating together in practice, and Eriksson said he’s excited to see how they gel together in game situations. “He’s been a really good player to play with,” Eriksson said of Bergeron, according to Boston.com. “And it’s going to be...

Boston Bruins: Bruins vs Red Wings recap; Patrice Bergeron Returns to action

The Detriot Red Wings welcomed the Boston Bruins into the arena tonight for a pre-season, one that was quite entertaining to say the least. Both teams were held scoreless through almost two periods, until Bruins own Carl Soderberg broke the tie to put the B’s up by one goal with only 1:04 left in the period.  Then only 41 seconds into the third period, Soderberg would net a...

Brad Marchand Buys Waterfront Penthouse in Boston’s North End for $1.46 Million (Photos)

Most 25 year olds in Boston aren’t living in up in some penthouse condo in Boston’s North End. Brad Marchand isn’t your average 25-year-old. The Bruins left wing recently purchased a penthouse on Boston’s waterfront, for $1.46 million, according to Boston Business Journal. Located at 357 Commercial St. on Lincoln Wharf in one of Boston’s most sought-after neighborhoods...

Bruins-Red Wings Live: Patrice Bergeron Returns to B’s Lineup for Tilt in Detroit

6:30 p.m.: On Thursday, it was Gregory Campbell who was returning to the Bruins lineup. Patrice Bergeron’s turn comes Saturday night in Detroit. Bergeron will make his preseason debut Saturday night when the Bruins take on the Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena. It marks Bergeron’s first game action since Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final. The Boston center collected a handful of injuries...

Torey Krug Fights David McIntyre in Loss to Red Wings, Shows Off Seldom-Seen Pugilistic Side (Video)

Torey Krug isn’t exactly known as a fighter. Standing just 5-foot-8 and 170 pounds, the Bruins defenseman isn’t exactly a heavyweight, either. On Thursday night, however, the puck-moving, power-play specialist showed off a different side of his game seldom seen to this point in his NHL career. After getting into a shoving match with Detroit’s David McIntyre in the corner,...

Bergeron feels good in debut, happy to move forward

While Patrice Bergeron lost the opening faceoff at center ice to Stephen Weiss the B’s two-way center also used enough force to snap Weiss’ stick in the process and sent him to the bench for another twig. Then in the same period Bergeron went hard into the corner to deliver a hit on Red Wings defenseman Brendan Smith while passing the preseason contact test. “It felt pretty...

Gregory Campbell ‘Very Grateful’ to Return, But Ready to Move On and Focus On Season

BOSTON — The last time Gregory Campbell was seen on TD Garden ice, he was hobbling off the ice, barely making it to the bench. He had broken his leg, of course, after blocking a shot in the Eastern Conference finals, ending his season. On Thursday night, Campbell was back on the Garden ice quite literally taking the next step in his recovery from that broken leg he suffered blocking...

NESN’s Back in Black and Gold Tour Goes All Over New England Preparing Bruins Fans for New Season (Video)

To say it was a busy week for the NESN Bruins broadcast team might be just a bit of an understatement. Jack Edwards, Andy Brickley and Jamie Erdahl set out early Monday morning on a road trip with just one thing in mind: Getting Bruins fans ready for hockey season. As they quickly learned, though, there’s already plenty of excitement for the upcoming season. The four-day tour made...

Chad Johnson, Niklas Svedberg Battling for Backup Spot Behind Tuukka Rask (Video)

Goaltender Anton Khudobin proved to be more than competent as the Bruins’ No. 2 last season, going 9-4-1 with a 2.32 goals against average in 14 starts. But now, with Khudobin moving on to back up Cam Ward in Carolina, the Bruins are tasked with finding a new understudy to Tuukka Rask. Rookie Malcolm Subban is a virtual lock to begin the season in Providence, leaving journeyman...

Signs point to Bruins' Gregory Campbell’s return tonight vs. Red Wings

Gregory Campbell could make his return to game action as soon as tonight when the Bruins host the Detroit Red Wings at the Garden. And it will be tonight if Campbell has his druthers. “I think (tonight) is a realistic possibility” Campbell said after yesterday’s morning session at the Garden. “Talking to the surgeon the other day things look good. It’s just a matter of...

Chad Johnson made18 saves and Carl Soderberg scored both goals to lead the Boston Bruins over the Detroit Red Wings 2-0 in a preseason game Saturday night. Bruins-Red Wings Live: Gregory Campbell Makes Preseason Debut As B’s Host New Division Rival

12 p.m. ET: The Bruins will play a game at TD Garden on Thursday night for the first time since they saw the Chicago Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup in June. There won’t be nearly as much on the line Thursday, but there’s certainly plenty at stake. The B’s will play their preseason home opener against the Detroit Red Wings, offering fans their “first” glimpse of one of the...

Eight Past Luon...Wait, What? BRUINS LOSE.

Patrice Purrgeron reporting for duty. Jon was supposed to do the recap, but he made too many Savard jokes at the game so he's in time out. He's bad. Very bad. I hope someone puts cat poop in his favorite shoes. About 10 minutes ago. That'd be hilarious. So the Bruins got crushed. CRUSHED. Detroit beat them like the red headed step child of a rented...

Preseason Game #4: Boston Bruins at Detroit Red Wings

Pez's Note: This preview was written on Friday instead of the normal Saturday game day post because I will be unavailable this weekend. If you have a problem with it, suck it.  Thursday night the Bruins got waxed in a preseason game against the Detroit Red Wings. Seriously, they left the Garden embarrassed as the Red Wings pounded Malcolm Subban to the tune of 8-2. This...

Preseason Game #3: Detroit Red Wings at Boston Bruins

The Boston Bruins open up their first home preseason tonight against the Detroit Red Walkers Wings.  As we talked about on #DOYLive last night, the NHL has had a bunch of ridiculous rule changes including:  A penalty when a fighter removes his helmet before the fight Hybrid icing Jersey tuck penalty.  Yeah, the NHL has a rule against having a...
