The Detroit Red Wings had little to get excited about during a 2-0 loss to the San Jose Sharks on Thursday night, but Pavel Datsyuk’s incredible work on a first-period play against Logan Couture was an exception. Datsyuk took a pass off the boards from Johan Franzen deep in the San Jose zone, then proceeded to pull off a crossover move on Couture that looked more appropriate for March Madness than the rink. Datsyuk went inside-out on Couture several times, causing the Sharks’ forward to stumble and fall backwards, as Datsyuk then handed the puck back to Franzen. The video: Later in the shift, Datsyuk set up a scoring attempt off another move along the boards. That second effort was nothing compared to the first, though — a play that left even Couture a little in awe. Hey @datsyuk13 really bro? On my bday…cmonnnn.. Someone fix that ice in the corner.. — Logan Couture (@Logancouture) March 29, 2013

Pavel Datsyuk tweets pictures of himself with Monsters University cutouts

Detroit Red Wings forward Pavel Datsyuk has always been known to have a great sense of humor.  Whether it is his practical jokes or his ring tone, he’s always been a character.  Last night, the Red Wings had a night off and were able to go to the movies in San Jose.  No word on what Pavel Datsyuk saw with his teammate Damien Brunner, but the photos he took with the Monsters...

VIDEO: Pavel Datsyuk sits Logan Couture down with another incredible deke

Add Logan Couture to the long list of players that have been victimized by Paval Datsyuk’s craftiness. Thursday night the magician Datsyuk was able to knock San Jose’s Logan Couture off his feet without even touching him. Instead Datsyuk used one of his patented dekes to take Couture out of the play and totally embarrass the San Jose forward on his home ice.

Pavel Datsyuk’s dangles made Logan Couture fall down and go boom (VIDEO)

Pavel Datsyuk could dangle his way out of a straight jacket.  Thursday during the Red Wings-Sharks game, Datsyuk got fancy in the corner against Sharks center Logan Couture.  Couture was left grasping for air as he landed on his tuckus. Fox Sports Detroit’s Mickey Redmond absolutely loved it, and rightfully so.

Pavel Datsyuk Tries to Break Logan Couture’s Ankles With ‘Crossover’ Move (Video)

Pavel Datsyuk is a wizard with the hockey puck, and he continues to show us that time and time again. The Red Wings forward was at it again Thursday night when he decided to show off what basketball fans might call “sick handle” against poor Logan Couture and the San Jose Sharks. Datsyuk is clearly feeling March Madness, as he showed off some incredible stick-handling that had...

Happy birthday, Logan Couture. Pavel Datsyuk is here to remind you how slippery that ice can be: Muahahahaha! UPDATE: Logan Couture was cool about it:  Hey @datsyuk13 really bro? Pavel Datsyuk abuses Logan Couture with his stick handling

Pavel Datsyuk makes NHL players look dumber than the sequel to Van Wilder (The Rise of Taj). His shootout goals are jaw dropping and his stick handling gives me a sports boner. Against the San Jose Sharks he puts some magical moves on Logan Couture that break his ankles and sends him flopping like Shane Battier. Like dropping the mic or throwing the ball into the stands, had Datsyuk...

Claude Giroux’s pulls off “Datsyukian” deke in shootout

Philadelphia Flyers forward Claude Giroux decided to channel his inner Pavel Datsyuk in the shootout against the New York Islanders on Thursday night.  While Datsyuk was dangling Logan Couture, Claude Giroux was busy making Evgeni Nabokov look silly.  Unfortunately for Giroux and the Flyers it would be the lone goal in the shootout for them as they lost to the Islanders 4-3. ...

It took the Sharks overtime and a shootout but they earned two points Saturday night against their division rivals the Phoenix Coyotes in a 3-2 win. Logan Couture was the only player to score in the shootout when he beat Jason LaBarbera through the five hole for the game winner. Sharks rally, knock off Coyotes

The way the San Jose Sharks have been playing of late, even a third-period deficit is no reason to get down. Marc-Edouard Vlasic celebrated his 26th birthday by scoring the game-tying goal with 5 minutes left in the third period and Logan Couture got the only goal of the shootout to lead the Sharks to their fourth straight win, 3-2 over the Phoenix Coyotes on Saturday night. &...

About Last Night…Sharks Blank Ducks on a Wingles and a Prayer

Tommy Wingles had a goal and two assists for the San Jose Sharks as they blanked the Anaheim Ducks 4-0. Antti Niemi said no to all 22 Anaheim shots and Logan Couture had two assists in the win. SPIN: Wingles’ three-point night gives him 10 points for the season. He might have a breakout like this every now and again but isn’t roster-worthy in anything but large or deep leagues...

Red Wings vs Sharks Recap: 3.28.2013

That was a really boring game to watch. It didn’t seem to me that Detroit had very many quality scoring chances last night. Most of their shots came from the boards with no screen in front. Only one PP the whole game and it was ours. Very uneventful game. More after the jump: Howard doesn’t get much help these days and certainly doesn’t get much help in San Jose....
