Found February 16, 2013 on The Detroit Sports Site:
Rookie goalie Petr Mrazek will be back between the pipes on Sunday evening against the Minnesota Wild, MLive’s Ansar Khan reported. Mrazek made his NHL debut in a win over the St. Louis Blues on Feb. 7, then sat as Jimmy Howard made four consecutive starts — Detroit went 2-1-1 in that span, culminating in a 5-2 loss to Anaheim on Friday. Mrazek stopped 26 of the 27 shots he faced in St. Louis, as the Wings pulled away for a convincing 5-1 win. Also of note from Khan’s Saturday update: Pavel Datsyuk says he is “50-50″ to return to the lineup in Minnesota. Datsyuk sat out Friday’s game with what the Wings called an “upper-body injury” — he revealed Saturday that he’s dealing with a bruised shoulder. The Wings will get Mikael Samuelsson back from his groin injury, after he missed 12 consecutive games. To make room for him in the lineup, the Red Wings reassigned Gustav Nyquist to Grand Rapids. Nyquist suited up for Detroit on Friday night.

Datsyuk out with upper-body injury

DETROIT The hits just keep on coming for the Detroit Red Wings only in a bad way. To this point, the Wings have been able to survive an early rash of injuries because top players Henrik Zetterberg, Pavel Datsyuk and Niklas Kronwall remained healthy. But Friday night, Datsyuk was out of the lineup due to a yet undisclosed injury. When the team came out for warm-ups before the...

Lidstrom: No regrets on retirement

NOVI, Mich. The next time Red Wings fans see No. 5 on a winged-wheel sweater, it will be on its way to the rafters of Joe Louis Arena. Even though some of those fans were hoping to see Nicklas Lidstrom return to play in a lockout-shortened season, the longtime Wings captain has settled nicely into retirement in Sweden. "It feels great to be back here in Michigan again,"...

Gustav Nyquist Recalled, Because … Someone on Detroit Red Wings’ Roster Is Injured

Gustav Nyquist is up from Grand Rapids for the Detroit Red Wings’ Friday night game against Anaheim. The reason? Well, as Chuck Pleiness reported, another Red Wings forward has suffered an injury. Which forward? Good question. According to Pleiness, Wings GM Ken Holland simply revealed that a forward is hurt — but would not reveal which one, leaving the mystery until Friday’s...

Ten minutes with former Red Wings captain Nicklas Lidstrom

The Detroit Red Wings' morning skate ahead of tonight's game against the Anaheim Ducks (7:30 PM, FSD/Prime Ticket/97.1 FM) was somewhat quiet...Until we learned that the Wings have recalled Gustav Nyquist as someone Ken Holland won't name is injured up front, we found out that today's game marks Jordin Tootoo's 500th NHL appearance, that this weekend will be the...

Red Wings will play without Pavel Datsyuk tonight

Ass barns. Now we know why the Red Wings recalled Gustav Nyquist, and the Wings did so because one of their most important players is "banged-up":   Pavel Datsyuk out for Wings tonight. Team says it's a day-to-day injury, not specified. — Ansar Khan (@AnsarKhanMLive) February 16, 2013

Khan, Pleiness offer Red Wings injury updates, report that Nyquist will play tonight

Not good, not good. MLive's Ansar Khan wasn't able to get Red Wings GM Ken Holland name of the player who won't be able to play tonight against the Anaheim Ducks (it's on at 7:30 PM on FSD and Prime Ticket, but all of a sudden, there's confusion as to whether it will air on the NHL Network or not, so we don't know if it's gonna be blacked out for GCL and...

Call-ups contribute for Wings in loss to Ducks

DETROIT You can call them the Red Wings of the future or the Grand Rapids Griffins call-ups, but it might be time for the Wings to call on them even more. After the Wings dropped a 4-3, overtime decision to the St. Louis Blues Wednesday night, coach Mike Babcock said that he probably should have played some of the third- and fourth-line guys more. Two of those guys, Tomas Tatar...

Pavel Datsyuk Scratched From Friday’s Lineup Due to Injury

Pavel Datsyuk will not play in the Detroit Red Wings’ Friday night showdown with the Anaheim Ducks. GM Ken Holland told reporters earlier in the day that one of the Wings’ forwards had suffered an injury, leading to Gustav Nyquist’s call-up. The identity of that banged-up forward was not revealed until the Wings came out for their pre-game skate. UPDATE: Pavel Datsyuk will...

Red Wings-Wild quick take: Wings lose poise, patience, lose game

The Detroit Red Wings now find themselves admist a 3-game losing streak thanks to a loss of poise, a loss of direction and a seemingly baffling lack of effort, intensity and attention to detail after giving up 3 goals over the course of 4 minutes and 10 seconds, en route to a 3-2 loss to the Minnesota Wild on Sunday night. The Red Wings, bolstered by the additions of Pavel Datsyuk...

Red Wings-Wild game-day updates: Datsyuk’s a ‘game-time decision’

The Detroit Red Wings will face off against the Minnesota Wild tonight in a pseudo-matinee game (6 PM EST, FSD/FS North/97.1 FM) with both teams hoping to snap two-game losing streaks. The Red Wings will start Petr Mrazek opposite Niklas Backstrom tonight, and the Wings will also receive a roster reinforcement in the form of Mikael Samuelsson, but whether Pavel Datsyuk plays tonight...

Red Wings-Ducks game-day updates: thus far, the only news of note involves no NHL Net blackout

The Detroit Red Wings are preparing to face off against the Anaheim Ducks tonight (7:30 PM, FSD/Prime Ticket/and as noted by @eyesris on Twitter, the NHL Network will no longer cover tonight's game, so yay, no Center Ice/GameCenter Live blackout!/97.1 FM) , and the Macomb Daily's Chuck Pleiness reports that the Wings are doing so under some noticeably watchful eyes (who will...

Red Wings-Ducks set-up and overnight report: still banged-up, and Howard talks contract turkey

Ducks vs Red Wings Recap: 2.15.2013

Certainly not the third period we were looking for. The effort was there most of the night, but turnovers were the Red Wings’ undoing in this game. The Ducks scored 4 of their 5 goals off of turnovers. Yes, injuries are a problem, but our key injuries are to forwards and the problem was on defense. Howard did what he could, but there were too many turnovers to overcome. More...
