The term "character win" could be heard around the Predators' locker room following their 4-3 overtime victory over the Sharks on Saturday at San Jose. The Predators were down 3-1 just 52 seconds into the third period and found a way to come back ... and come back quickly ... and win in overtime. Nashville moved to 5-1-1 in its last seven contests. Before the game, Nashville Coach Barry Trotz said the Sharks were the most talented team in the NHL, but gritty goals by right wing Patrick Hornqvist at the 2:57 mark of the third period and defenseman Ryan Suter three minutes later tied the game. "We don't have the big superstars, but we had a team effort tonight," Hornqvist said. "We told each other, 'Never quit working.' " The Predators have two games remaining on this West Coast swing. Nashville is 2-0-1 on this trip so far and will return home with at least five of a possible 10 points. Not bad for a team that went 1-2-0 in its previous trip in Western Canada. Said Nashville coach Barry Trotz, "It was a big comeback." NOTES, QUOTES The Predators split up the pairing of D Ryan Suter and D Shea Weber, mostly because of San Jose's depth at forward. The Sharks dropped C Patrick Marleau to the second line and RW Martin Havlat to the third line. Suter and Weber played in a rotation with D Jonathon Blum and D Francis Bouillon. This was also necessitated by the ankle injury to D Kevin Klein in the previous game. "I think after the first period we both got the hang of what the rotation was going to be," Weber said. "The first was kind of a mess there for a while." RW Patric Hornqvist has scored six goals in his last five games. The Predators franchise record for goals scored in consecutive games is six, and Hornqvist is one shy of this mark. Not so coincidentally, Nashville's recent 5-1-1 streak has pretty much coincided with Hornqvist's ability to score. "He has lots of courage," Nashville coach Barry Trotz said. "He's really fearless. He's our version of (Detroit's) Tomas Holmstrom. He's going to the net and he's getting rewarded." QUOTE TO NOTE "This is what our team is all about. We never quit working." -- RW Patric Hornqvist, after the Predators' shootout win at San Jose.
