Nashville Predators' 2012 3rd round (89th overall) draft pick, Brendan Leipsic, will be playing for Team Canada in the upcoming Canada-Russia Challenge. Leipsic is one of only 28 Canadian junior hockey players to be on this team. Read more after the jump.

Current Portland Winterhawks player in the Western Hockey League, Brendan Leipsic will be playing for Team Canada for the second time of his hockey career, as he played for them in the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. There, Leipsic played five games and scored 3 goals with 2 assists.

Brendan Liepsic, and the rest of Team Canada, will obviously be playing Team Russia and their best junior players like Nail Yakupov, 1st overall pick to the Edmonton Oilers in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, and Mikhail Grigorenko, 12th overall pick to the Buffalo Sabres in the 2012 draft. Expect Leipsic to play two games in this series, so keep your eyes open to lineup news.

How the 2012 Canada-Russia Challenge will work is similar to the 1970 Summit Series between Canada and Russia. However, instead of eight games, they will play four, and instead of "professionals", they are junior hockey players.

Here is the schedule:

# Day Time (CT) Away Home Arena Location TV 1 Thursday, Aug 9, 2012 10:00 AM CAN RUS Arena 2000 Yaroslavl, RUS TSN2 2 Friday, Aug 10, 2012 9:00 AM CAN RUS Arena 2000 Yaroslavl, RUS TSN2 3 Monday, Aug 13, 2012 6:00 PM RUS CAN Halifax Metro Centre Halifax, N.S. The bad part about the Canada-Russia Challenge is that people in the United States, specifically Nashville, TN, can't watch the games on TV. However, there will most likely be a way to watch it online.
