Another game, another battle between Jonathan Quick and Brian Elliott. This time Jonathan Quick was the hero as the Los Angeles Kings defeated the St. Louis Blues in Game 3 Saturday night to cut the Blues' lead in the series to 2-1. Quick defeated the Blues on 30 saves as the Blues had so many chances, but just couldn't find a way to put the puck in the net as it was a night full of missed opportunities.  This was the third time in the series that the outcome of the game was a one goal deficit as the Blues defeated the Kings twice back in St. Louis, 2-1. The only goal of the game tonight came from Slava Voynov with 15:03 left to go in the second period as Brian Elliott was also outstanding, stopping 21 shots.  At times Quick had made some outstanding saves, but more notably the Blues kept missing on some wide open shots that didn't make their way into the net and it's just frustrating that that the Blues couldn't come up with a win here tonight, in a game which t...

Kings need goals to get back in series with Blues

Jonathan Quick got much of the credit during the Los Angeles Kings' run to the Stanley Cup last year. The goalie also says he's to blame for the Kings' two losses to St. Louis in their current series. Quick's teammates know that's simply not true. A goalie isn't supposed to score goals - and unless the Kings start finding the Blues' net in Game 3 on...

Blues Drop First in LA, 1-0

"I had the perfect dream"- Freddie MercuryYes, after the Blues took the first two games against the Los Angeles Kings, I allowed myself to indulge in the dream that they could sweep the defending Cup champions and rest up for the next round.  It was not a reasonable expectation, however it was hard to resist.  Jonathan Quick popped the bubble on that dream last night...

Matthew Barry: Did You Have Any Doubt?

Who doesn't like Mondays? The Kings and Blues finally stopped beating the sugar honey iced tea out of each other and played some great hockey! The Blues silenced the rambunctious Staples crowd with two quick first period goals, and surprisingly neither of them were Jonathan Quick's fault. But I had such a positive energy about the game tonight and I was as calm...

Blues upbeat heading into Game 3

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) The Los Angeles Kings made playoff hockey look almost easy last season, steamrolling four straight opponents on the way to their first Stanley Cup title. The Kings are back to NHL reality this spring, and it's considerably less pretty. They've managed just two goals in two games against the hungry St. Louis Blues. Conn Smythe Trophy-winning goalie...

Los Angeles Kings try to muddle through offensively

The St. Louis Blues have earned a couple of 2-1 victories over the Kings and suffered a 1-0 loss at Los Angeles. You can expect more of the same for the rest of the series.“If you look at the series, 5-on-5 is so tough,” Kings coach Darryl Sutter told reporters after Saturday night’s game. “There are a lot of little battles going on that only the players appreciate or understand...

LA Kings Looking For Their Offense

from Helene Elliott of the LA Times, Quick was good enough. He stopped 23 shots and, before Jackman's effort, yielded only a goal that caromed off Patrik Berglund's foot at 3:44 of the third period. The Kings' offense, though, wasn't nearly adequate. The Kings have scored two goals on Brian Elliott in two games: one after Quick was pulled for an extra skater...
