Good friend of the blog Danny Picard of Comcast Sportsnet sends me this interview he had with Brian Boyle this morning on the Rick Nash trade...

Meanwhile, Jim Cerny at Blueshirts United got Michael Del Zotto's thoughts...

"It's tough to see teammates I have played with for three years, and you've become friends with, go, but bringing in a player like Rick Nash, an elite player, is only going to help us to our ultimate goal of winning the Stanley Cup. We are going to welcome Rick Nash into our family and hope that this trade continues to take us in the right direction. Obviously having a guy who can make plays like him only makes us a more lethal team."

Here's some player tweets...

Good luck @Anisimov42 @BDubi17 and Timmy! Dubi, I'll never forget our first preseason lunch at Applebees 7 years ago.. Who knew..#Rookieyear

@Anisimov42 great cellies! enjoyed getting to ya bud!

....this was a real close team last year, so while I'm sure they'll welcome Nash with open arms, you do have to wonder how losing players such as Dubinsky, Anisimov, Prust and Fedotenko is going to effect the locker room. As we Rangers fans know, just adding super star players doesn't guarantee success. There needs to be some kind of chemistry. Remember, this team made it to the Eastern Conference Finals.

...having said that, there's still too much of the core left over from last year's team to let this fall apart. The entire leadership (Cally, Richards & Staal) are still intact and I'm sure they'll do their best to incorporate the new players into the locker room. Anticipating nothing but a smooth transition. And lots of Rangers victories!
