New York, January 24, 2012 – New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that goaltender Chad Johnson has been recalled from the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League (AHL) on an emergency basis. Johnson, 25, has posted a 10-8-5 mark with a 2.64 goals against average, .910 save percentage and one shutout in 25 appearances with Connecticut this season.  He leads the Whale in wins, goals against average and save percentage.  Johnson recorded wins in five consecutive decisions from November 18 vs. Bridgeport to December 3 at Springfield, posting a 5-0-0 mark with a 1.92 goals against average and .932 save percentage in six games.  He also registered a 41-save shutout, stopping three of five shootout attempts, in Connecticut’s season opener, a 1-0 shootout win on October 9 at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. The Calgary, Alberta native was acquired by the Rangers from Pittsburgh on June 27, 2009, in exchange for a fifth round pick in the 2009 NHL Entry D...
