Found February 16, 2013 on NY Rangers Blog:
After Rick Nash was held out of practice today because of a "maintenance day, " the New York Rangers recalled Chris Kreider just 24 hours after sending him down to the Connecticut Whale. The move was designed to get Kreider, who was a healthy scratch Thursday vs. the Islanders and sparingly used prior, some much needed playing time. With Kreider back so quickly, thoughts have turned to why Nash was held out and if anything significant is wrong with him. Melissa aka @BlknBlueShirts tweeted earlier today that the Rangers announced at last night's season subscribers event in New York that Nash couldn't attend because of an illness. ...This move is odd on a lot of fronts. If Kreider needed to be sent down to get playing time, why is he the first recall because of Nash possibly missing Sunday's game? Why not a guy like Brandon Mashinter, who's been playing well? Let's say Nash does miss Sunday's game and is back Tuesday, Kreider just gets one...

Rangers recall Chris Kreider

Chris Kreider’s stay in Connecticut was relatively short, at least for the time being, as he was recalled by the Rangers. From several accounts, Rick Nash appears to be sick –as he had to bail on the season subscriber forum last night– so Kreider will be replacing him in the lineup if need be. Kreider played in last night’s 4-1 win for the Whale, finishing with a shot on...

Kreider sent to Whale

Per Katie Strang, Chris Kreider has been sent down to the Connecticut Whale.  She claims that the organization doesn’t want him sitting in the press box.  Looks like J.T. Miller will stay with the big club and see a year burned off his ELC. Tweet

Press Release: Rangers Assign Chris Kreider to Connecticut

New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has assigned forward Chris Kreider to the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League (AHL). Kreider, 21, has registered one goal and one assist for two points, along with four penalty minutes and a plus-two rating in seven games this season. [...]

Maintenance Day for Nash; Torts Talks Kreider Demotion

Andrew Gross at the Bergen Record reports that Rick Nash was given a maintenance day today as the Rangers prepared to take on the Washington Capitals at the Garden tomorrow. John Tortorella told Gross that Nash has played a lot hockey and needed the rest. Stu Bickel took Nash's spot on line rushes today. Lines stayed the same otherwise... Gaborik-Richards-Cally...

Avs May Have Asked for Miller or Kreider Along With Del Zotto for O'Reilly

Yesterday, I posted a report that the Colorado Avalanche had talked to the Rangers about a trade including Michael Del Zotto and more for Ryan O'Reilly. Well, Adrian Dater at the Denver Post now says the "more" was likely J.T. Miller or Chris Kreider. ...LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do I even need to comment on this ridiculousness? If Colorado really...

Powe Injury Likely Means Kreider Stays

When Brian Boyle was a healthy scratch during the Rangers three game winning streak, a number of readers wondered how he'd ever get back into the lineup. My response...those things just work themselves out. And it looks like that's exactly what happened last night with the head injury to Darroll Powe. While you never like to see anyone being led off the ice with the dazed...

Brooks: Rangers not in on O’Reilly (Update: Asking price includes Del Zotto)

Update 2/18/13: Elliotte Friedman says that the Rangers spoke to the Avs over the weekend regarding O’Reilly, but balked at the asking price. The Avs were asking for Michael Del Zotto and either Chris Kreider or J.T. Miller. Clearly, the Avs are living in a fantasy world where they believe they have leverage with their star-in-the-making forward. Del Zotto is obviously a non-starter...

Who’s Being Punished Here?

from Larry Brooks of the New York Post, So 6:30 into the third period on Tuesday night in Boston, Milan Lucic finished off his check against Rick Nash by using his forearm to drive the Rangers winger’s head into the boards. There was no penalty on the play (though Nash received a minor for a feeble retaliatory hook) and there was no supplemental discipline issued,...

Rangers Fans Are Losing Their Minds

It's been a nutty week for me. Between the Rangers maddeningly inconsistant play and the flu that ravaged my family, my life has been flipped upside down. But between vomit cleanups Saturday night, I had a moment of clarity looking at my Twitter feed. The early season struggles of our beloved Blueshirts have made us Rangers fans lose our minds. Trade Gaborik. Buyout Richards...

Monzo’s Thoughts on the Blueshirts

Brian Monzo, a producer and hockey writer at WFAN as well as a good friend of the blog, was kind enough to take time out of his very busy schedule to give us his thoughts on the New York Rangers' play to date: PH: I know it is still early on in the season but what are some of your general thoughts on the Rangers' play so far? BM: I think they've played good at times...
