Slow news day around the NHL, but some action is going down in the afternoon. It looks as if the New York Rangers have signed defenseman Sean Collins. A right handed shot, Collins, 28, has 21 games of NHL experience with two goals and one assist. He's listed at 6'1'' 205lbs.

Last season for the Washington Capitals, Collins played in two games, four games in 2010-11 and 15 during the 2008-09 season.

Here is Collins' talent analysis from Hockey's Future:

"Collins is an extremely dedicated and hard-working player. He exudes both maturity and character when on the ice, or in the dressing room. Collins has a good frame and has slowly improved his offensive totals in his first three seasons at Cornell. Must improve his speed and strength, however."

  • As if the Rangers organization didn't have enough depth. Another Connecticut bound player, though, I like reading he's a character guy and a hard worker. Can never have enough of those.

Speaking of the Capitals, they've signed shootout specialist and former Rangers Wojtek Wolski.

    Wolski's one-year deal with the #Caps worth $600,000.
