Update, 12:00 p.m.:
Rangers Assistant General Manager Jeff Gordon had this to say about Kreider to Blueshirts United...

"He's a very mature kid playing in a great program," Gorton said. "His game is maturing in his own end (of the ice), which speaks to the type player he is. He is very bright; he is very coachable; and we think he fits with what we are doing with our team, creating a team-first atmosphere."

...with the way Gordon is talking it doesn't sound very likely Kreider is going anywhere.

Original Post:
Jess Rubenstein at The Prospect Park reports that because Glen Sather, Jeff Gorton, Gordie Clark, and Mark Messier all attended Chris Kreider's (2009 - 1st) performance in the Bean Pot Final Monday night, it is likely clear that the Rangers want to sign their #1 prospect when his Boston College season ends.

Rubenstein expects the Rangers to sign Kreider to an Amateur Tryout Contract with the Whale to preparation for Rangers camp in this coming summer.

Rubenstein adds that Kreider is more than just a scoring threat...

"He plays defense, he goes into corners and fights for the puck just like he goes into traffic and sets up in the crease, and while his speed is first rate; put him out on the power-play with Derek Stepan and look out. Those two are good friends who've already shown a very very good chemistry with each other on the ice."

...despite all the Nash rumors including Kreider's name I would be floored if Sather traded him. Despite some of Sather's past spending issues, he's a smart man and more than capable of making the right decision when it comes to the Rangers top prospect.

...he is the crown jewel of the Rangers organization, and while Nash is an elite player, I think the Rangers feel Kreider will fit perfectly into their system similar to Stepan and Hagelin.
