We've never claimed to be hockey experts, good writers or even above average people. We barely qualify as bloggers. So, with this playoff series against the Islanders coming up, we decided to lower the bar even further. Enjoy our post of incredibly immature and stupid insults directed towards the New York Islanders. This is a joke. A bad joke. The New York Islanders are all big poopy heads. John Tavares? More like John TavarASS, amiright? Fact: The New York Islanders cheated to win at least two of their four Stanley Cups, probably. Sidney Crosby's dad can beat up Brian Strait's dad. Douglas Murray is rubber, Josh Bailey is glue. The Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in Uniondale, New York that occupies 63 acres, seats 16,170 for hockey and was opened in 1972. Isn't that stupid? The Jerk Store called. They're running out of Kyle Okposo. Nobody likes Brad Boyes. Not even hi...

New York Islanders Playoff Preview Q & A

I am a die-hard New York Islanders fan and have been waiting for this for 7 years.  I sat in the Stanley Cup when I was 3 years old and have bled blue and orange ever since.  We are no longer the laughingstock of the NHL and Rick DiPetro is not on the roster.  So there will be no need for those kind of jokes anymore. The New York Islanders shocked everyone covering the NHL this...

Islanders Need To Get Better

from Mark Herrmannof Newsday, Welcome to the playoffs. The Islanders barely had time to wipe their feet on that nice friendly mat, buoyant about taking that first step into the postseason. And they found out it was a trap door. Oops. The best the Islanders can say after their 5-0 drubbing in their first postseason game since 2007 is that they got it out of the way. The...

Pittsburgh Penguins Beat Tavares to Pulverize the New York Islanders

Sid should send 91 a “Been there. Sucks to be the obvious best player on your emerging playoff team” fruit basket. And some ice packs. There was so much that went right last night for the Penguins that this post could focus on just about anything, but it feels good to be on the giving end of a seek-and-destroy strategy. The Pens registered 36 hits. I lost track of how many of...

Video: Penguins Neal Viciously Slashed by Islanders Hamonic, Doesn’t Return

James Neal was viciously slashed by NY Islanders defenseman Travis Hamonic during a Penguins 5 on 3 powerplay in the second period of Wednesday night’s playoff game.  While it is being speculated that Neal had a lower body injury after a clean check by Hamonic, you can clearly see in the first video that it is Neal’s right hand that is being checked on the bench. Neal went...

Jay-Z joins pitch to redevelop suburban NY arena

Jay-Z is part of a group trying to renovate Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum outside New York City. The rapper and music mogul attended a meeting Thursday on Long Island, where the media was briefed on four proposals to renovate the arena and surrounding property. Nassau County officials have been trying to come up with a plan to redevelop the 40-year-old arena for many years...

Marty Reasoner leg check on Jussi Jokinen and shenanigans

You could see this play coming, that's why I included the play leading up to this hit by the New York Islanders forward Marty Reasoner on Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jussi Jokinen. Both teams were taking runs at each other at the end of a 5-0 game. If you watch the video, you will see Jokinen looked up to see if the ref was going to call a penalty. Reasoner was assessed a...

Tracking the Playoffs: Islanders vs. Penguins (Game 1)

Just because the Hurricanes are out of it doesn't mean my tracking days are over. I'll be doing various stat tracking for every playoff game this year and will be posting scoring chance reports here for the ones I'm able to do live. I'll have reports for the other games posted at a later date (possibly after each series is over), but scoring chances will come a day...

A Few Moments from Penguins-Islanders History

Obviously this isn't the complete history of the two teams playing against one another, but here are some key moments in Penguins/Islanders history. 1975 That video pretty much explains the situation. The Islanders came back from a 0-3 hole to eliminate the Penguins. 1982 The Pens were pretty much annihilated by the Islanders in the first two games...

Penguins Take Game 1 over Islanders

After a hard-fought, 60 minute game, the Pittsburgh Penguins put on a display of scoring by defeating the New York Islanders 5-0 in game one. Solid goaltending, defense, and offense truly made this happen. However, the victory didn’t come without physical play. Penguins forward James Neal was checked by Islanders defenseman Travis Hamonic in the [...]

Isles-Pens Playoff Preview

This week marks the start of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs and the New York Islanders will face the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round. The Islanders, who haven’t made the playoffs since the 2006-07 season, will have to face a red hot Pittsburgh team who outscored them 17-9 in their 5 matchups this season. Although the Penguins have won 23 out of their last 27 games and led...
