And who said scoring in the NHL was down?

The Pens banked a much needed two points with a wild 8-5 victory over the Jets. Evgeni Malkin continued his unrealistic season with another five point effort. Chris Kunitz added 4 points.

Being more happy about getting the two points than watching the Pens poor defensive effort is okay for now. An afternoon game after a bit of a layoff will do that.

Strange schedule this weekend. Pens play at 7:00 tomorow against he lightning.

Cap after the readmore

Things got off to a really negative start. Niskanen and Engo got smoked for two goals. Early.

2-0

Pens looked dead, and everyone started ******** about afternoon games.

Dustin Jeffrey woke the Pens up. He rolled down the right board, and sniped a shot past Ondrej Pavlec.

2-1.

Huge goal for Jeffrey.

About four minutes later James Neal tied it up his patented shot of the Malkin face-off win.

James Neal ™ 2-2.

Letang got called for a penalty late in the Period but the Pens killed it.

Chris Thornburn is a dick. He roughs up Michalek and the Pens get an early powerplay. Malkin finds Kunitz on a nice breakout pass.

Kunitz snaps it past Pavlec.

3-2.

Both teams dicked around for a little while. Winnipeg sucks.

Dustin Buttplug tried to pinch and the Pens caught him. Malkin with a sick saucer pass to Letang, who beat Big Buff up the ice.

Letang buried it.

4-2.

Things looked really good at that point, but the Pens defensive betrayed them. Blake Wheeler kind of undressed Brooks Orpik, and got the puck infront to some guy named Stapleton. He deflected it past MAF.

4-3.

But three minutes later Malkin struck back. Chris Kunitz fed Malkin who smoked Big Buff. Malkin walked in on Pavelec.

5-3.

Too good.

Malkin's 30th goal of the season. man.

Give the Jets credit. They didn't lay down and die. Despite the many mistakes Big Buff made all day, he cashed in early in the third.

5-4.

But before the Jets could even touch themselves over the goal, the Pens came back. Orpik put a shot in Richard's park direction. Park got his stick on it.

6-4.

The goal pretty much broke the Jets will to live. If it didn't Jordan Staal got on the board a little bit later.

7-4.

After the Jets scored again, the Pens got a powerplay because Andrew Ladd sucks. There was a pile up in front. Letang found the puck. 8-5.

Game,

NOTES:

  • Remember when people thought Malkin sucked?

  • This was Malkin's 400th career game. In 400 games he has 485 points. That ranks him 13th all time.
  • Richard Parks goal was his 100th of his career.
  • Here are Mike Lange's highlights.
  • Hard to find a more solid defensman than Kris Letang right now. Not even talking about his two goals. His play in the defensive zone has been spectular.
  • Kunitz-Malkin-Neal are up to 49 points at even strength this season.
  • Tampa at 7 tomorrow.
