The Detroit Red Wings have assigned forward Jordin Tootoo to the Grand Rapids Griffins, where he will be in uniform for Friday’s game against Rockford. With Jonathan Ericsson coming off long-term injured reserve to play for the Red Wings Friday against Washington, the club also has sent defenseman Xavier Ouellet back to the Griffins. And if right wing Patrick Eaves clears waivers Friday at noon, he, too, will be sent to Grand Rapids. Tootoo cleared waivers last week. He hasn't appeared in an AHL since since 2005-06, when he played for the Milwaukee Admirals, the affiliate for the Nashville Predators. The Red Wings needed to waive Tootoo and Eaves to clear cap room for Ericsson. Meanwhile, Daniel Cleary will be back in the Red Wings’ lineup Friday, after sitting out one game as a healthy scratch. He will replace Tomas Tatar. Tatar has gone scoreless in the past four games after a three-game points streak. He has two goals and one assist in 11 games this season. "When ...

Hard losses pile up for the Detroit Red Wings

Can the Detroit Red Wings come back from a four-game loss streak, with the last three games going into extra minutes to decide the outcome? The Detroit Red Wings (9-5-5) just can’t seem to win. They’ve lost the past four games in a row, which is strange for a team that previously went on a six-game winning streak before the losses. More Moves Coming For The Wings

from Ansar Khan of Mlive, ... the Red Wings will need to make a couple of moves to accommodate the return of defenseman Jonathan Ericsson, who is expected to come off long-term injured reserve and play Friday against the Washington Capitals at Joe Louis Arena. Red Wings-Capitals quick take: ????

I am officially frustrated. You start instead. The Wings blew a 2-goal lead in the 3rd period, yet again, Jimmy Howard received little support from his defense--this time literally getting pulled out of position by Brian Lashoff on the game-tying goal--and a predictable pattern emerged in the shootout, i.e. everybody tried their usual moves, and as such, Washington won 4-3 in a...

Capitals 4 Red Wings 3 SO ReCap

The Capitals completed yet another third-period comeback en route to a 4-3 shootout victory over the Detroit Red Wings.  The Capitals entered the third period trailing 3-1, but goals from Ovechkin and Latta were enough to force overtime and, eventually, a shootout.  The win keeps Washington within a point of Pittsburgh, who beat Nashville earlier in the night.  On to the reCap...

This should be interesting, via RedWingsFeed: We're T-Minus 17 days until Daniel Alfredsson returns to Ottawa on December 1st. The Ottawa Sun's Bruce Garrioch reports that the Senators plan on allowing fans who are justifiably angry at him to empty their lungs of boos (hey, you're more than allowed to do it once, it happens), I mean pay tribute to #11: The club still...

Jocelyn Robitaille: 3 droitiers, 3 gauchers.
