Found April 27, 2013 on Kukla's Korner:
I'll write a quick take in a little bit, but after a nail-biting season and a nail-bed-biting last week, the Red Wings--perhaps despite themselves--earned what Ken Daniels duly noted was the team's first 4-game winning streak of the season, defeating the Dallas Stars 3-0 and setting themselves up for their 22nd consecutive playoff run. The Wings will now fly home for the evening, pack up on Sunday and head to Anaheim to play the Ducks. The Free Press's Helene St. James reported something I've heard, and something that FSD's Ken Daniels and Mickey Redmond reported: Not official, but #RedWings expect Games 1 and 2 at Anaheim to fall Tuesday and Thursday. — Helene St. James (@HeleneStJames) April 28, 2013 (and yes, that would probably mean that Game 3 would be an incredibly stupid NBC matinee) Continue reading "Red Wings make playoffs for 22nd season, will face Anaheim after defeating Dallas"

If you need to know how the Red Wings can clinch a berth to their 22nd straight playoffs, it has been presented to us succinctly by The Detroit News:  *Earn at least one point in Dallas on Saturday, ending regulation time with a tie. *If Columbus loses at home Saturday against Nashville, the Red Wings will make the playoffs regardless of what they do in Dallas. *If the...

What's next for the Stars after missing the playoffs?

Now that it's official that the Dallas Stars will miss the playoffs for a fifth straight season, there are a number of questions to be addressed. Five Games the Stars Would Want Back

With Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets at American Airlines Center, it's now official. The Dallas Stars will be bystanders in the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs for a fifth straight season. Red Wings embarking on 22nd straight playoffs

The Detroit Red Wings will begin their 22nd consecutive playoff appearance on Tuesday night (10:30 p.m. ET vs. the Mighty Mighty Ducks). It's the longest playoff streak in all of sports. It's a wonderful coincidence the Red Wings have a guy on their team named Tootoo and his number is 22. The streak is something I want to jot some notes about. When I was growing up, idolizing...

Admirals take Game 2

12:04 in the second period, Austin Watson unknowingly scored the game winner that would tie the series up at one between the Milwaukee Admirals and Texas Stars. Mike Liambas’ shot was blocked by Watson cutting through the slot and he snapped the puck past Nilstorp’s blocker. Watson’s goal was enough for Magnus Hellberg, who recorded a shutout by stopping all 23 shots...
