Saturday night the Detroit Red Wings released their 2013 regular season schedule where they’ll play 48 games over the course of 99 days looking to make 21 consecutive playoff appearances. After the NHL lockout killed half all of the 2012 portion of the season the Wings will play all games against Western Conference opponents, much like how the schedule was put together back in 1995 the last time the league had a shortened season due to labor issues. The Wings will play a total of 18 games against divisional opponents with the rest of the 30 games against the rest of the Western Conference. Within the division Detroit will play St. Louis and Columbus five times while they’ll play Chicago and Nashville four times. In their series with the Blues they’ll play them four times within the first 30 days then not play them again until April. In terms of travel Detroit will not have a road trip longer than four games with one homestand lasting a total of four games. And given the shortened se...
