DETROIT -- Get a player back, lose a player.
It's a trend Red Wings fans are all too familiar with at this point.
The good news was Johan Franzen returned to the lineup after missing 16 games with a concussion, but the bad news was captain Henrik Zetterberg was a late scratch with an upper-body injury.
Zetterberg did not practice Saturday, but coach Mike Babcock said it was a "maintenance day."
"We decided before this stretch, because we played every second day, I've given them lots of maintenance days just because of the grind," Babcock said Saturday. "We'll get back to more of a normal schedule once we're through."
Originally Babcock planned to have Daniel Cleary be a healthy scratch but without Zetterberg, Cleary was in the lineup.
Franzen played center in Zetterberg's absence.
