Veteran forward Jay Pandolfo agreed to terms with the New York Islanders on a one-year contract.
The Islanders announced the deal Tuesday, four days before they open the regular season at home against the Florida Panthers.
Pandolfo, a longtime member of the New Jersey Devils, made the team after being invited to training camp on a tryout basis.

Earlier today, veteran forward Jay Pandolfo agreed to a one-year deal with the New York Islanders. Pandolfo will provide a veteran presence for a group of young, talented Islanders forwards. The Islanders also inked Ryan Strome to an entry-level contract just before the 5 PM deadline. Strome was the 5th overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

New York Islanders rookie center Ryan Strome agreed to terms on an entry-level deal on Tuesday.
The fifth overall pick of the draft, Strome collected 33 goals and 73 assists in 65 games with the Niagara IceDogs of the Ontario Hockey League.

According to the team website, Nino Niederreiter is basically a lock, however he is on the IR retroactive to 9/30. He played less than five minutes...
