Its as official as an unofficial contract agreement can be. After expressing his undying love for the Wings, telling reporters Monday, Theres nothing like being a Red Wing, Daniel Cleary has reportedly agreed to a three-year deal worth 8.25 million -- with a salary-cap hit of 2.75 million a season -- with the Philadelphia Flyers. The deal, first reported by The Detroit Free Press, can't be officially announced until the Flyers clear cap space. Philadelphia GM Paul Holmgren on Tuesday would only say that Cleary will attend Flyers training camp on a professional tryout contract. Cleary, a 16-year NHL veteran, has spent the last eight seasons with the Red Wings, but when he turned down Detroits three-year, 5.5 million offer in early July -- and after the free-agent signings of Daniel Alfredsson and Stephen Weiss -- most observers realized that Cleary's career here was done. Although the Wings did try to work out their cap and roster issues this summer, trying to make room for Cleary, team officials balked when he reportedly took the Flyers' offer back to Detroit looking for a match.
