The Buffalo Sabres are expected to be busy at the NHL trade deadline, and one player likely to be traded is top-six winger Matt Moulson. According to Chris Botta of the Sports Business Journal, more than a third of the league has expressed interest in acquiring Moulson. More than a dozen teams have contacted the Sabres about Matt Moulson. A lock to be moved before deadline, if not a lot sooner.— Chris Botta (@ChrisBottaNHL) February 05, 2014 With this many teams in the race, rookie general manager Tim Murray should be able to get a significant return for the pending unrestricted free agent. Buffalo acquired Moulson, a first-round pick and a second-round pick earlier in the year from the New York Islanders in exchange for star forward Thomas Vanek. Moulson has tallied 24 points (nine goals, 15 assists) in 40 games since joining the Sabres. He’s a three-time 30-goal scorer and would upgrade any contending team’s power play with his playmaking skills. His salary cap hit for this season...

Interest In Steve Ott Plus A Look At The Canucks

"Perhaps more than Moulson," said one NHL team executive on Tuesday. Ott is the kind of grinding center that playoff-bound teams would love to add and it...

Sabres Fan Wears Mask To Game To Shield Himself From The Awful

Understandably, this guy didn’t want anyone to know his life had sunk so low that he was forced to attend a lousy Buffalo Sabres game. Say what you want, but he’s pretty damn loyal if he still shows up when his team is so bad that he feels the need to wear a mask to games so that people won’t recognize him. You’d need a hell of a lot more than a mask to convince me to go...

Ryan Miller deal matter of 'if, moreso than when'

The assumption from most in hockey is that Ryan Miller will not be with the Buffalo Sabres at the end of the season. Some were asking if Wednesday night was his final game at home in Buffalo. The goaltender who will represent the U.S. in Sochi, is a free agent at the end of the season and staying with the team through their rebuild doesn't seem the ideal move for either side...

Erik Karlsson snipes Jhonas Enroth, puck destroys his water bottle

Erik Karlsson’s play in Thursday night’s 3-2 win over Buffalo just showed why he’s without a doubt the best offensive defenseman in the game. The former Norris Trophy winner sniped Jhonas Enroth from the top of the left circle, destroying his suspended water bottle in the process. [SB Nation] The post Erik Karlsson snipes Jhonas Enroth, puck destroys his water bottle appeared...

Kevin Freiheit: Miller's final days in Buffalo?

538 games. Ryan Miller was drafted in 1999 with a 5th round, 138th overall pick. He was 19 at the time. Today, we're approaching the end of the Miller era. At 33 years old, Miller still has a good chunk of time to continue his NHL career, but it looks more and more likely that he won't be doing that in Buffalo. This could very well be Miller's final home game for...

GARTH'S CORNER: Miller:Waiting To See What The Plan Is

Ryan Miller told reporters on Tuesday that he has not had any substantive conversations recently with the Buffalo Sabres management team about his future with the club. Miller sat out Monday night’s 3-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers. He will get his net back for when Sid, Geno and his Team USA head coach Dan Bylsma travel to Buffalo on Wednesday night. Might this be Miller’s final home...

Travis Yost: G58: Sabres @ Senators

A few thoughts in preparation for Thursday night's game against the Buffalo Sabres, the last home match before the Olympic break .. (1): I never like calling games must-win until they are, mathematically speaking, must-win. I've always been of the opinion that writers and bloggers need to come up with a term that's more accurate. Like, reallyneedtowin. Whatever...

Team Latvia hockey preview: Experience vast, but not enough

Team Latvia hockey has had some famous players do damage on international ice. Arturs Irbe is easily the most famous player in national history. Latvian head coach and current Buffalo Sabres bench boss Ted Nolan has his work cut out for him as only five players have NHL experience. The majority of Team Latvia plays in the Kontinental Hockey League for Dynamo Riga based in Latvia...

QUICK CAP: Pens punish Sabres

There's really nothing to say. The Pens did exactly what was expected of them against the worst team in the NHL. 9 different Penguins registered a point. into the atmosphere.

Who's that cruising at the bottom of the Atlantic, flopping around in pain occasionally, but mostly just silently swaying like a soggy corpse with concrete shoes? Why, it's the Sabres, of course! Sometimes teams wake up and grab at your ankles, zombie like, while you are wading around feeling safe. It's always a possibility that you have to look out for.  Watch where...
