Defenseman Jakub Kindl and the Red Wings have agreed to a four-year, 9.6 million deal, according to tsn.ca.
Selected in the first round (19th overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Heading into last season, many in the Red Wings organization thought Kindl was a disappointment; however, he was forced into action because of injuries and became a pleasant surprise.
In 41 games, Kindl, 26, had four goals and nine assists and was an impressive plus-15.
Kindl, 6 feet 3 inches tall and 216 pounds, was restricted free agent. But based on his season and how positive the Red Wings are regarding their young corps of defenseman, getting Kindl signed was on their check list for this offseason.
