Brad Richards ESPN Body Magazine interview came out today and one of the subjects he discussed was the intensity of training camp workouts...Describe your toughest day of training.BR: Training camp is the hardest thing we do all year. It starts with on-ice testing: six sets of three-lap sprints, which take between 39 and 43 seconds, depending on how fast you are. Then a two-mile run and skating: turning for time, figure 8 drills, sprints, stuff like that. The next day we do more sprints to get in the range of a shift. Then we start the training camp -- the actual scrimmages and all that -- and do all the skating after. It's a week to 10 days of really intense skating, which is good because once the season starts you're playing too much to work on conditioning. You have to set your base then, so that's the hardest time, harder than what we go through on the ice.To read the rest of Richards body interview, click here....if you want to learn more about Richards' thought...

Rangers got deeper

The Rangers were eliminated in the Eastern conference finals against the Devils for a few reasons. Most fans question the lack of goal scoring and high end skill and rightly so. The fact that the Rangers still haven’t gone out and addressed this frustrates many, even though Glen Sather has been right to not over react. Then there is the theory that the Rangers may have run out...

Glen Miller’s Favorite New York Rangers: 25-21

Even though there are still several big names that could change teams this summer including Doan, Nash, Ryan and Semin, it already feels as if we are in the midst of the “dog days of summer.” You know, the period of time after the big name free agents have chosen where they are going to [...]

Rangers Prospects Update: Size Won't Deter Thomas; Skjei a Two-Way Defenseman

Over at Blueshirts United, Jim Cerny sat down with new CT Whale assistant coach Jeff Beukeboom to discuss prospect Christian Thomas, who Beukeboom has a great knowledge of from his time coaching in the OHL..."I know Christian Thomas really well, my son (Blues prospect Brock Beukeboom) and he grew up playing against one another, and I think his skill set translates well to the...

Talking Rangers Prospects With WHL From Above

The New York Rangers have a number of quality prospects in the Western Hockey League, most prominantly Dylan McIlrath. So I decided to get in touch with Cody Nickolet, who does radio commentary for the Saskatoon Blades of the WHL and also has a website called WHL From Above. The man obviously sees a lot of WHL games and is about as good of a source of knowledge in regards to its...

Gaborik Almost Traded for Boyle; Dolan Makes Bank & Possible Lundqvist Concert

I guess John Buccigross at ESPN felt like riling up Rangers fans this morning by floating this...Before I go get a flowcut, I want to hear from Rangers & Sharks fans. I heard a Dan Boyle for Marian Gaborik trade almost happened. Thoughts— John Buccigross (@Buccigross) July 17, 2012 The 36-year old Boyle, who has a no trade clause, had 9g, 39a for the Sharks last year. Boyle...

What other players might come to New York in a Rick Nash trade?

As Dave noted last week in our ongoing discussion about Rick Nash, it’s very possible that Nash wouldn’t be the only Blue Jacket coming back to the Rangers in a potential blockbuster trade this summer. There have been wide-ranging reports of Columbus GM Scott Howson’s trade demands, but the general consensus seems to be that he wants a couple of NHL forwards, a top prospect...

Beukeboom Happy To Be Back With Rangers

Jim Cerny at Blueshirts United spoke with Jeff Beaukeboom, who will replace J.J. Daigneault as the defensive coach of the Connecticut Whale. And it's very clear that Beukeboom is excited about coming back to the Rangers' organization.  "I've had a long relationship with Glen Sather," explained Beukeboom. "He drafted me in Edmonton, so was a big part...

A game of chicken

Courtesy National Hockey League Guess we now know why Glen Sather has not been trying all that hard to sign a big-time free agents for the New York Rangers. By now you may have heard that some of the key points of the NHL's first offer to the NHLPA for a new collective bargaining agreement have been leaked out. I'm not going to kid myself into believing that somebody...

Slow, Slow, Slow

Our fearless leader posted today how slow the hockey news world is. Unfortunately, this is especially true when it comes to the New York Rangers. Sure, there have been some minor signings but certainly nothing to go crazy about. With all of that said, I am here to tell you that I have not forgotten about you guys and Ranger happenings. I will continue to do my best to stay on top...
