New York, NY -- Boston University Terriers forward Ross Guadet didn’t know he’d be playing on Madison Square Garden ice until 1:45 on Saturday, so he might night have believed you if you told him he’d score the game winning goal that night. But it was indeed his tip in goal, in the overtime period, which won the game for the Terriers in the bi-annual Red Hot Hockey game against the Cornell Big Red at Madison Square Garden.
Guadet’s first goal of the season came at 2:48 into the overtime period. Defensemen Max Nicastro shot the puck from the point and Guadet was able to get his stick on the puck and redirect it past the right shoulder of Cornell goaltender Andy Iles.
“Definitely say this is the most exciting goal I’ve scored,” Guadet said after the game. “It was a great game to be a part of too. It was definitely one of the best moments of my athletic career”
Guadet had been a healthy scratch the previous game and was not sure if he’d be playing in the Saturday game.
