It was decided just prior to gametime yesterday in Boston that forward Ruslan Fedotenko would miss his third consecutive game after taking a high hit to the head last week against the Lightning. However, during the team's morning skate earlier on Tuesday, Fedotenko was in attendance and said that he was feeling better. This hinted that he was close to returning to the lineup.

Wrong. Today Fedotenko did not skate with the team in practice and head coach John Tortorella said afterward that Ruslan "did not feel well" and was being treated by head trainer Jim Ramsey. While Tortorella did not come out and say that Feds has suffered a setback in his return, it certainly seems as if that may be the case with what's gone on over the past two days.

To feel better one day and then not feel well the next day sounds a lot like concussion symptoms to me. Fedotenko may not always put up the points, but he plays an important role on the ice and especially in the locker room being one of the veterans on the club. The Rangers do not want to lose anyone else due to a concussion.

The key will be to see what his status is tomorrow and whether or not he is good to go against the Blackhawks at MSG. If he's not, I think it's safe to assume that something's up.

* Forward Wojtek Wolski and defenseman Jeff Woywitka will be returning to the NHL roster tomorrow after completing their two-week conditioning stint with the Connecticut Whale of the AHL. When asked what the plans are for them, coach Tortorella responded that "it's being worked out."
