Jhonas Enroth stopped 32 shots in helping the Buffalo Sabres keep up their late-season playoff push with a 3-1 win over the slumping Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday. Tyler Ennis got his first goal in 12 games, and Jochen Hecht and Kevin Porter also scored for Buffalo (18-19-6), which took over sole possession of 10th place in the Eastern Conference. With five games left, the Sabres moved four points behind the New York Rangers for the East's eighth and final playoff spot. Benoit Pouliot score for the Lightning, who dropped to 1-4-1 in their past six. Tampa Bay has particularly struggled on the road, where it's winless in four straight (0-3-1) and 1-6-1 in the last eight. Enroth stopped the first 16 shots he faced before allowing his first goal in two games, with 6:30 left in the second period. That's when Pouliot cut the Sabres' lead to 3-1 by deflecting in Eric Brewer's shot from the left point. Enroth was coming off a 29-save outing in a 1-0 win over Philadelp...

Sabres' John Scott videobombs interview

via NHL.com video Whatever I say here won’t do justice the little stunt that Buffalo Sabres’ tough guy John Scott pulled during teammate Chad Ruhwedel’s post game interview Sunday.  While MSG-Buffalo’s Brian Duff asked Duhwedel about getting a high-stick to the face while not wearing a full shield, Scott grabbed his faux fur coat and got his groove on. Duhwedel had no clue...

Pegula scales back Sabres title expectations

Buffalo Sabres owner Terry Pegula's objective to build a Stanley Cup contender remains the same. It's his three-year timeline that's proving unrealistic. With Buffalo in jeopardy of missing the playoffs for a second straight year, Pegula said Saturday it's unclear how long it might take to rebuild the Sabres. ''You know, I don't know how long,'&...

Enroth To Start For Sabres Against Tampa Bay

(November 18, 2011 – Source: Rick Stewart/Getty Images North America) Fresh off his 29 save shutout of the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday afternoon, Jhonas Enroth has earned himself another opportunity to start for the Buffalo Sabres. The Swedish netminder will man the goalmouth in today’s matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning in another contest between basement dwellers...

Sabres sign UMass Lowell D Ruhwedel

The Buffalo Sabres have signed undrafted rookie free-agent defenseman Chad Ruhwedel (ROO-wee-dell) to a two-year contract after he completed his college career at UMass Lowell. Hours after being signed Saturday, Ruhwedel made his NHL debut, playing in Buffalo's home game against the Philadelphia Flyers. He had 23 points (seven goals) in 41 games this past season in helping Lowell...

Buffalo's Steve Ott demonstrates textbook embellishment

Speaking of clowns. This is a textbook embellishment. You can't tell me that a big guy like Steve Ott who is 6'0" and 193 pounds, should be able to be knocked over this easily, no way, it's not possible. This should be a penalty on Steven Ott for embellishment. I also believe that it's probably not a smart play by Flyers defenseman Oliver Lauridsen because he...

Sabres Patrick Kaleta and Flyers Oliver Lauridsen fight

That was former Saint Cloud State Husky defenseman Oliver Lauridsen's first NHL fight, I suppose, he would have like to have done beter. Nice to see that Lauridsen take on one of the biggest pukes in the NHL, I don't hold Kaleta in very high regards at all, he's a reckless players that has been suspended numerous times by the NHL. Kaleta was also called out by teammate...

The curse of the Sabres captains

I've gone on record a few times on Twitter and on this site about ******** about who should be the captain. In a word: ********. I just think fans and media members take it too far when it comes to who should wear the "C" on this team. If I had a dollar for every time someone called into a radio show or a media member ******* about how this guy should be wearing the...
