NY Rangers Blog:
“He’s a heart-and-soul kid … he’ll do anything for the team. He puts the team ahead of anything. If the team needs a fight to lift the team he’ll do it … if it needs a big hit he’ll do it … block a shot … he does the intangibles that coaches love. He’s heart and soul … he’ll play with the young kids and he’ll help them." - Dale Hunter via Montreal Gazette
Who the heck is this guy Hunter speaks of? Sounds like someone who could really light a fire under this uninspired Rangers team.
Who's that you say? Brandon Prust? You mean the Rangers fan favorite who always did things the "right way?"
Yes, I know that the Canadiens ridiculously overpaid for Prust's services at $2.5 million per for four years and with the Rangers likely to be up against the cap ceiling in the next few years it would have been irresponsible for Sather open the vault for a fourth line, energy guy. But man the Rangers could really use his passion right now.

MONTREAL — Canadiens forward Max Pacioretty will miss three to four weeks after having an emergency appendectomy.
The team announced in a brief statement Saturday that the 24-year-old Pacioretty had the procedure to remove his appendix.
He has four assists and a team-high 10 shots on goal in three games this season. Pacioretty, drafted 22nd overall by Montreal in 2007, has 53 goals...
According to Bruce Garrioch at the Ottawa Sun, the Rangers could be one of as many as four teams to 'make a push' at acquiring Habs' defenseman PK Subban. Garrioch states that Detroit, Philadelphia and Winnipeg could also be interested in acquiring the young defenseman's services if/when Habs GM Marc Bergevin makes him available. Subban reportedly is looking for a...
News tonight that Max Pacioretty has undergone appendectomy surgery, and will be gone 3-4 weeks. Lars Eller is expected to take his place in the lineup tomorrow.
Tough news for the Canadiens as they prepare to meet the Devils in Montreal tomorrow.
Still no sign of PK Subban, with news the Habs have offered $5.1 million over two years. Certainly not a good news day for Les Canadiens.
Little or no progress made in PK Subban contract negotiations. Habs firm on 2 year deal, roughly $5 mil total. Offer sheet? Trade? Options.

Before we get started, we know what you're thinking: "How could I ever not hate P.K Subban? I couldn't stand him when he played against the Pens." Two words: Darius Kasparaitis.
This could be the biggest story in the NHL off the ice right now: P.K. Subban and his contract negotiation with the Habs.
Great read here from Adam Getz:
Andrei Markov scored 4:22 into overtime on a power play as the Montreal Canadiens recovered from blowing a two-goal lead to defeat the New Jersey Devils 4-3 on Sunday night.
Markov was at the edge of the crease and lifted the rebound of Rene Bourque's shot off the end boards into an open side for his fourth goal. The Canadiens went on the man advantage after Andy Greene took...
MONTREAL -- Andrei Markov is scoring like he is trying to make up for all the time he has lost to injury over the last few seasons. Better still for the Montreal Canadiens, their All-Star defenseman is making his goals count. Markov scored his third straight game-winning goal 4:22 into overtime to give Montreal a 4-3 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Sunday night. Markov...
MONTREAL -- Andrei Markov scored 4:22 into overtime to give the Montreal Canadiens a 4-3 win over the New Jersey Devils on Sunday night. Markov got his fourth goal of the season with 37.8 seconds remaining after Devils defenseman Andy Greene was penalized for holding. Greene was sent off with 58.1 seconds left in the extra period when he hauled Erik Cole down as the Montreal...

The New Jersey Devils look to go 4-0 tonight as they prepare to faceoff against the Montreal Canadiens. While the Habs finished dead last in the Eastern Conference last season, it’s always a monumental challenge to play a game at the Bell Centre in front of one of the most passionate and electrifying fan bases in all sports.
I was fortunate to set up...
