Earlier today the Philadelphia Flyers have announced that they will buy-out the last two years of Danny Briere’s contract, making him an unrestricted free agent heading toward this off-season. Briere, a 35-year old center, was the 24th overall pick in the first round of the 1996 NHL Draft by the Phoenix Coyotes.
Danny Briere has spent 16 seasons in the National Hockey League, scoring 286 goals and 373 assists. Briere has spent six seasons with the Phoenix Coyotes and Buffalo Sabres, but most notably spending six seasons with the Philadelphia Flyers.
Briere has been a prominent force in the playoffs scoring 109 points, 50 goals and 59 assists in a total of 108 games. Briere ranks 67th all time on the all time playoff scoring lists. Briere would be a huge addition to the Blues if St. Louis wants to make a long, deep playoff run.

Kevin Shattenkirk is one of several high-profile free agents the Blues will have to address over the summer.
