Pro Sports Daily:
The Winter Classic is already memorable for the sister of Philadelphia Flyers star center Claude Giroux.
When Isabelle's boyfriend, Eric, asked Claude for some advice on when and how to ask for her hand in marriage, the Flyers star said, "Just do it on the ice."
After Philadelphia finished practicing on Sunday, the families were allowed to skate on the ice at Citizens Bank Park. Eric, however, was admittedly nervous and mulled around a bit.
"He was skating around for like half an hour," Giroux told NHL Network. "He was all nervous, he didn't know how to do it."
Finally, Eric got down on one knee in the middle of the ice and asked Isabelle an all-important question.
She said yes.
Things will likely be decidedly less-blissful on Monday when the New York Rangers (23-9-4) face the Flyers (22-10-4) in a battle of Atlantic Division rivals. New York leads Philadelphia by two points atop the division.

Better than points leader Claude Giroux, who might as well be Claude Gir-who outside the Northeast and the Midwest.
Better than the RedWings-Blackhawks, Rangers-Flyers or Bruins-Canadiens rivalries.
Better even than the Stanley Cup playoffs.
That admission may sting, but its the truth. Nothing captures the American...
from Randy Miller of the Courier Post, “You know, it’s so funny to me — everybody is so happy here to play outside,” Flyers right wing Jaromir Jagr said. “When I was a kid, I played outside all the time and I was so happy to play inside. I think I’m the only guy who is upset about it.”
Not quite. Flyers goalie Ilya Bryzgalov feels the same way. When asked if he’s...
At first glance, hockey in Philadelphia looked unfamiliar before the Winter Classic.
Held in a venue that had never hosted an NHL game before, featuring a team uniform never-before-donned, and played in a brand-new calendar year, it seemed that the Flyers had a chance to become a whole new team.
Unfortunately, the sights became all-too-familiar once the puck dropped.
Claude Giroux and Jaromir Jagr hit the ice looking more ready to shag flies than practice the power play.

The fifth edition of the NHL's Winter Classic is on tap today, as the Philadelphia Flyers host the New York Rangers outdoors at Citizens Bank Park.
