The Bruins today finished up their team-building excursion with an open practice in front of a packed Waterbury Ice Center crowd. There were two notable absences from the practice though as Carl Soderberg (ankle) and David Krejci (back spasms) remained off the ice. In fact it looks like Soderberg who had earned a spot as the third line left wing won't be suiting up for Thursday's opening night at the Garden against the Tampa Bay Lightning. "There's some swelling there. We don't know exactly for sure until that swelling goes down. He's going to be a little bit longer. I would say doubtful for Thursday. Highly doubtful" said coach Claude Julien. Soderberg hit a rut in the ice in the third period of the Bruins' final exhbition game in Saskatoon on Friday. The injury at first was believed to be minor but not so much anymore. Barring a surrpise early comeback Jordan Caron will take his spot on the third line with Chris Kelly and Reilly Smith. The prognosis on Krejci was better. "We're hoping to see David on the ice tomorrow and we're optimistic about that" said Julien. Krejci was named the Bruins third alternate captain which was vacated when Andrew Ference left.
