Having gained ownership's backing to continue rebuilding the Buffalo Sabres into contenders, general manager Darcy Regier is short on specifics on how long it might take.
Asking for patience, the only assurance Regier could make on Monday was in cautioning that more ''suffering'' might be in store before the job is complete.

Friday night, the Sabres closed out another season of spectacular failure. They did it with Ryan Miller in net, possibly for the last time.

While debate rages over who should win the NHL’s annual honors, such as the Hart, Norris and Calder trophies, the 2013 Chutzpah Award has been decided by acclamation.
The winner is: the Buffalo Sabres.
No organization could even come close to competing with the one from western New York that has earned this dubious achievement...
