Steve Ott‘s feelings have been hurt. After beating the New Jersey Devils 3-2 on Sunday evening, the Buffalo center let his feelings about the hometown crowd be known to reporters. Ott said that the crowd was booing the team “every chance they had” during long stretches of play in the Sabres’ end. On Tuesday, however, Ott went even further, blasting his hometown fans in a radio interview with WGR. While Ott admits that “we do have a lot of fantastic fans,” he notes that the booing is pervasive, and that “negativity breads negativity.” Check out the entirety of Ott’s comments below, as transcribed by The Buffalo News. “I think it’s completely ridiculous, to be honest with you. We go into other buildings, we’ve won a lot of games and teams should have the same amount of frustration, sold-out buildings and it’s funny becaue they’re continuing to cheer on their team. They stand behind their team. They respect the work ethic and everything else. “It’s disheartening when we did get he

Family affair: Steve Ott and fiance call out Buffalo beat writer on Twitter

To say “things aren’t going according to plan” is an understatement if you’re the Buffalo Sabres. The team has either not qualified or hasn’t advanced past the first round of the playoffs in five seasons, which will soon become six after this season is officially over.  Lindy Ruff, a man who has been a fixture behind the Sabres’ bench since 1997, was fired mid-season...

Family affair: Steve Ott and fiancee call out Buffalo beat writer on Twitter

Has Steve Ott Snapped In Buffalo...???

((HT: CBC/MSG/NHL)) Steve Ott is an alternate captain for the Buffalo Sabres... and his evening against the Montreal Canadiens started like this... The HQ would always like to know how every fight involving the Habs involves Boullion... And then, he seems to treat Jeff Halpern like a popsicle at faceoff... His third act was very special, according to Matt Barnaby...

Kevin Freiheit: Who is more valuable: Vanek or Miller?

With a loss to Winnipeg, Buffalo currently has a 2.3% chance of making the Stanley Cup Playoffs, according to Sports Club Stats. It's basically over. Even if the Sabres were to go 7-1 or 8-0 for the rest of the season, they still would need help from other teams. I wanted to answer a few questions that were submitted this week. I can't tell you how many questions regarding...

Ott tries licking Halpern's visor during faceoff

You’re down 4-0 at home in the 3rd period to Northeast Division rival Montreal, and you’re looking for something, anything, to spark your team to a miraculous comeback. Sabres forward Steve Ott went the unconventional route, opting to try and lick Habs center Jeff Halpern’s visor prior to a faceoff, in an attempt to throw Halpern off his game and win the draw. Did it work?...

GARTH: Vanek Ready To Go

Thomas Vanek will be back in the lineup tonight in The Peg. Vanek is on the ice. He will be a game time decision. Bet on the fact that he will be playing tonight, after missing six games with an upper body muscle strain. Vanek-Ennis-Stafford in warm-ups. What becomes of Marcus Foligno? Will 82 sit and 65 play, or, vice versa? Will Marcus run with Porter and Flynn...

GARTH: Web Gem

Pardon the gratuitous pumping of Steve Ott’s tires. The guy deserves a fist-pump and an high-five for changing the culture in the Buffalo room. The water bottle is NEVER half full when Otter’s in the room, on the bench, on the ice, at the hotel, or in the air on the team charter. Otter’s fiercely passionate about his teammates and he’s never going to quit...

GARTH: Kaleta Status: ?

The Sabres are a better, all-around team when Patrick Kaleta is in the lineup. The agitating winger's status is unknown right now for tonight's huge game against the Montreal Canadiens. Kaleta skated only 9 shifts for 6:37 TOI in The Peg. Kaleta didn't finish the game after he suffered an upper body injury. Ron Rolston had been upping Kaleta's ice time lately...

Don't fall for the booooooing argument

About a year ago, the drunks boys over at Dear God, Why Us? Sports planned one of their occupy Nassau trips to see the Sabres battle the Islanders. At the time, the Sabres had just come off that January road trip from hell. So we didn't go into the game feeling particularly good about them. At one point, some of us in the group started to heckle Ryan Miller. I have absolutely...

GARTH: Zero Dark N9NE

Thanks, Dan Hickling The puck will drop on the Sabres playoffs tonight at 8pm in The Peg. A regulation win will pull Buffalo into a 9th place tie with Winnipeg (40 point). The rangers and Islanders are tied for 8th place with 42 points. Buckle your chin strap! The team will hit the ice momentarily. I expect Thomas Vanek to not only skate, but play tonight. ...

GARTH: GrigoLo?

Mikhail Grigorenko and his Quebec Remparts better get the "A" game on, and quickly. The Remps trail the Rouyn-Norana Huskies three games to one in the second round of the QMJHL playoffs. The Remparts have lost two straight to the pesky Huskies. Grigo scored a PPG in Wednesday night's OT loss. He has four goals and nine assists in 10 playoff games. What...

Peter Tessier: Buffalo Pounded

Want more hockey thoughts? Follow me on Twitter HERE Despite an out of town scoreboard that was far from favorable to the Winnipeg Jets the home team did what it could to improve their chances of having post-season play. Simply put they pounded the Sabres. Forget the hulking mass of a pylon that is John Scott, a guy who seems to have no trouble looking to cause trouble for...

Sabres Vs Canadiens: Quick Hits

© AP Photo/Paul Sancya There are just eight games remaining in the 2013 season for the Buffalo Sabres, and with the team sitting six points back of the final playoff spot, it’s becoming now or never time for the team to make a serious run to the postseason. With 16 points available in the final games, Buffalo will have to earn 15 of them to have a realistic shot at making the...
