The Lightning lead the Montreal Canadiens 3-1 going into the third period Saturday night. But instances where they turned the puck over or were unable to clear the puck came back to haunt them in the third period. Montreal would score three unanswered goals in the third to beat the Bolts 4-3. Right now, Tampa Bay is not playing like a team who deserves to get into the playoffs. And Lightning All-Star Steven Stamkos expressed his displeasure after the game: We’re not hungry to win and we are scared to lose right now and it shows. In the first 10 minutes instead of keeping the pressure on them we are dumping pucks into nobody, just giving the puck right back to them and the game is about puck possession and we are giving the puck right back to them. They get a power play, come breaking out of their zone, they score they get the momentum now and it’s a different game. Frustration is mounting and time is running out. At this point of the shortened season, it’s tough to say if the Lightning have enough for a run at the playoffs with how they have been playing.
