The last-place Buffalo Sabres now have a rash of injuries to contend with.
The team's two leading scorers, Zemgus Girgensons and Tyler Ennis, are sidelined with injuries coach Ted Nolan announced Thursday, before Buffalo's home game against the Vancouver Canucks.

Buffalo Sabres center Zemgus Girgensons, who’s tallied 13 points (seven goals, six assists) in 24 games, leads all players with nearly 400,000 votes.
He’s a little more than 150,000 votes ahead of Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban, who led the first wave of voting and currently has 240,362 votes.
Russia took on Latvia to a blowout win Saturday with a final score of 4-1. During the game Buffalo Sabres forward Zemgus Girgensons who is playing for Latvia got a little disgruntle and speared Alexander Burmistrov right off the faceoff.
Girgensons was handed a game misconduct and a 5-minute major for the spearing incident.
Buffalo Sabres forward Zemgus Girgensons pulled off this beauty move on Detroit Red Wings defenseman Nik Kronwall on Tuesday night. Kronwall got caught flat-footed as Girgensons pulled the puck between his legs and blew past Kronwall and buried it. It was Girgensons second goal of the night but it wasn’t enough as the Sabres fell to the Red Wings, 4-2.

Monday was Sabres’ youngin’ Zemgus Girgensons 20th birthday. So after practice, 20 teammates lined up and Girgensons was sent through for 20 spankings – hockey style.
With the lowest amount of points in the NHL, it’s good to see the Sabres enjoying themselves in some fashion. Ryan Miller took out a bit of frustration on his turn.
