PLAYERS: Zack Smith
TEAMS: Ottawa Senators
Hockey is a sport loaded with names that are difficult to pronounce and almost impossible to spell. Even if you're a dedicated fan you might find yourself struggling, especially if you root for the Ottawa Senators. As it turns out, the Senators are no different, even when the question involves one of their teammates.  Numerous Ottawa Senators were asked to spell a teammate's last name. From Zibanejad to Dziurzynski, the Senators continually got the spelling wrong, in some cases missing the actual spelling by a wide, and hilarious margin. To be fair, Ottawa has some of the most difficult names to spell in the league, but you'd think these players might fair a bit better. After all, they only spend nearly every waking minute together, most of the time with their last name on the back of their shirt. Zack Smith now knows just how easy he has it. [follow]

Ottawa Senators interested in Corey Perry

Don Brennan of the Ottawa Sun thinks the Ottawa Senators should land big-ticket free-agent Corey Perry this summer.  " If Melnyk wants a championship as much as he lets on, he must still toss and turn with nightmares of how Perry played such a large role in keeping him from one that spring. If he wants to sip from the Cup as he says, he must be prepared to offer Perry a deal...

Senators 4, Sabres 3, OT

Kyle Turris scored his second goal 3:54 into overtime to give the Ottawa Senators a 4-3 victory over the slumping Buffalo Sabres on Saturday. Patrick Wiercioch had a goal and assist, and Chris Phillips also scored for Ottawa, which won for only the second time in eight games (2-2-4). Turris added an assist, and Ben Bishop made 31 saves in his first start in four games. The Senators...

Friday News & Notes

As was telegraphed by Bob McKenzie and Seth Jones earlier in the week, came this news yesterday... "The Ottawa Senators announced today the club has signed free agent defenceman Troy Rutkowski to a three-year entry-level contract. Rutkowski is currently playing in his fifth season with the Portland Winterhawks, the Western Hockey League’s top-ranked team." Rutkowski...

Chris Kelly: Broken Leg

A little late on the news, but Chris Kelly was diagnosed with a broken left tibia after receiving a hit by Ottawa Senator's Chris Neil on Monday night. Kelly will most likely be out 6-8 weeks, meaning he is done for the regular season. This is a big blow for the third line. Chiarelli better get to work trying to find a plug for the third line because Jay Pandolfo and Jordan...

Senators-Sabres Preview

While the Ottawa Senators continue to play with a depleted roster, the Buffalo Sabres might get a handful of players back on the ice Saturday. The Sabres will try to use that to their advantage as they seek a third straight home win and their first victory in three matchups with the Senators this season. Among Ottawa's injured players are top goaltender Craig Anderson, reigning...
