Found March 10, 2013 on Kukla's Korner:
from Eric Duhatschek of the Glob and Mail, ...the stats line on Kiprusoff is so uncharacteristically grim – just a 3.43 goals-against average, an .857 save percentage and only three wins in 10 decisions. Kiprusoff’s save percentage leaves him ranked 72nd of the 79 goalies which have played a game in the league this year and is far off his historical standards. Kiprusoff had a slow start to the season and then, this past weekend, two grim outings in the Flames’ whirlwind trip through southern California. Kiprusoff was the starter on Friday against Anaheim and was outplayed by the Ducks’ first-year goaltender, Viktor Fasth, in a 4-0 Calgary loss. It didn’t get any better 24 hours later either, as the Flames fell 6-2 to the defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings. Kiprusoff gave up six goals on 22 shots and then got the hook from coach Bob Hartley in favour of Joey MacDonald, when it no longer mattered. To a man, the Flames raced to the defence of their beleaguere...

Eklund: Could Iginla be the best deadline rental EVER? How much would you pay?

There are reports today that the Flames won't be able to get a whole lot for Jarome Iginla, however talking to my sources I really tend to respectfully disagree...I have always said the amount of respect Iggy gets in the east baffles me. Were he on an Eastern Canadian team or the Bruins, Flyers or Rangers he would be considered one of the top 5 most exciting players in the game...

Colin Dambrauskas: Flames Game Day vs LA Kings...."We have to win..."

Follow me on Twitter!: @ColinDJD Tonight the Calgary Flames will try to avoid being swept in their three games against the L.A. Kings this season. After their loss to the Kings Saturday night, Hartley made no bones about the Flames situation, saying “…we have to win. That’s the urgency that we’re facing now”. He is right, losing tonight would mean...

Broadcast Blooper: Virtual advertisement screens Miikka Kiprusoff

Look out! Advertisements are taking over hockey games! Those 3D advertisements you see digitally placed along the glass or a relatively new invention in the NHL. In fact, numerous broadcasts still aren't using them, for one reason or another. As it turns out, the broadcasters that are using them might not be too sure how to use them. During Fox Sports broadcast of the...

Flames Now Last In The West

from Eric Duhatschek of the Globe and Mail, The Flames, meanwhile, have now fallen to 15th place in the Western Conference standings, behind both the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Edmonton Oilers. If the objective is to bottom out this season, then the events of the past three games will go a long way to meeting that goal. “Definitely, we took a step in the wrong direction...

Colin Dambrauskas: Flames Held Goalless Against Ducks....Take on the LA Kings

Follow me on Twitter!: @ColinDJD As expected by most, the Calgary Flames lost to the hot Anaheim Ducks last night in a 4 zip match. The Flames managed to outshout the Ducks in the first period 12-4 and stay right with them in that department for the two remaining periods, though their chances were just not enough. Despite playing a strong statistical game, the Anaheim Ducks...

Viktor Fasth unveils “Bane Duck” Goalie Mask Design

Anaheim Ducks backup goalie Viktor Fasth has been one of the surprising stories this NHL season.  The 30-year-old has posted a 10-1-1 record with a 1.92 goals against average, a .929 save percentage and two shutouts.  His stellar play earned him a two-year, $5.8 million contract extension and now he’s rocking this mask.  No word yet on when it will be officially unveiled, but...

Ducks 4, Flames 0

Daniel Winnik ended an 18-game goal drought on the first shot of the game and Viktor Fasth posted his second career shutout for the Anaheim Ducks with 29 saves in a 4-0 victory over the Calgary Flames on Friday night. Bobby Ryan and defenseman Sheldon Souray scored less than 2 1-2 minutes apart in the second period for Anaheim, who have won 16 straight at home against Calgary. ...

Anaheim Continues Calgary Dominance at Home

Anaheim hates going to Detroit.  Joe Louis has been very unkind to them over the years and the Ducks have a mere four wins in the building in 20 years.   Calgary can feel Anaheim's pain, because a visit to the Honda Center has yielded absolutely nothing in return for the past 16 games in a row.  The Flames last win in Anaheim?  January 19, 2004.  The latest victory to...

Blues-Ducks Preview

While the Anaheim Ducks have been one of the league's best home teams all season, they have a chance to make history with their next victory at Honda Center. The Ducks look to match a franchise record with their 11th straight home win on Sunday night when they take on the St. Louis Blues, who have only won twice in their last 18 trips to Anaheim. Since a 5-0 loss to Vancouver...
