Brian Burke and the Toronto Maple Leafs continue to resign their RFA’s as they finalized a one year deal with 24 year old defenseman Matt Lashoff. This 6’ 2” defender played most of the year with the Toronto Marlies, but did recorded one assist in 11 games at the end of the NHL regular season.

With the acquisition of John Michael Liles and Cody Franson, who have more NHL experience than Lashoff. I do expect Lashoff to start off the new hockey season with the Marlies, as Matt will continue to battle for a position on the Leafs’ squad.

Lashoff has jumped around from team to team, playing with the Boston Bruins, then the Tampa Bay Lightning and now the Maple Leafs. He was Boston’s first round pick (2nd overall) in the 2005 NHL Draft.
