Joffrey Lupul was named the NHL’s first star of the week. Unfortunately, he may go back on the Injured Reserve list after getting sandwich between two Philadelphia Flyers.
For the second time in two weeks, a Toronto Maple Leaf’s player has been named a NHL Star of the Week.
Last time it was Nazem kadri. This time it’s Joffrey Lupul, who racked up nine points in just four games last week. Congratulations Joffrey!
The Toronto Maple Leafs seemed to be back to their winning ways by shutting out Ottawa his past weekend 4-0. ”I think we had a great start and that was one of the things we tried to focus on,” said Leaf’s head coach, Randy Carlyle in the post game press conference.
Kadri racked up four points in the game, including his second career hat-trick. Lupul also had a four point night, with a goal and three assists.
James Reimer had a pretty good performance in net, making a total of 31 saves.
The Leafs had a four day lay off before they faced their next opponent, the Philadelph...

Do you think there should be a suspension???
from Roy MacGregor of the Globe and Mail,
Thursday evening, one of the Toronto Maple Leafs’ most exciting players, Joffrey Lupul, woozed and wobbled his way off the ice following a combination collision with two Philadelphia Flyers.
He did not look good. He did not return. He did not practise with the team on Friday. He did not leave with the team for New Jersey. He will...
Joffrey Lupul has been a key contributor as the Toronto Maple Leafs have moved into position to end the NHL's longest postseason drought.
Now, it's uncertain when the left wing will be able to resume helping that playoff push.
Lupul will be unavailable Saturday night against the slumping New Jersey Devils as Toronto goes on the road trying to bounce back from its first...
Maple Leafs forward Joffrey Lupul took a jarring hit Thursday night in the first period against the Philadelphia Flyers and didn't return to the game.
Lupul dug the puck out of the corner in the Toronto end when Jay Rosehill and Adam Hall sandwiched him with hits. He immediately skated off the ice and went to the dressing room with just over seven minutes left in the period...
When the NHL locked out its players last fall and shortened the current season to 48 games the league scrapped the annual All-Star game as well as the Winter Classic. This was a blow to the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs as they were all set to play the Winter Classic in Ann Arbor, Michigan on New Year’s Day.... Read more
Lupul found himself between Adam Hall and Jay Rosehill and you can see Lupul's head snap back but I don't really see anything flagrant on the play and no penalty was called.
Lupul went to the dressing room and has not returned.
Rookie Leo Komarov and Tyler Bozak scored and the Toronto Maple Leafs extended the reeling New Jersey Devils' losing streak to six games with a 2-1 victory on Saturday night.
James Reimer made 27 saves as the Maple Leafs strengthened their position in the tight Eastern Conference playoff race. The Maple Leafs are 5th in the East, seven points ahead of the Devils, who are now...
The Toronto Maple Leafs are surging toward their first playoff berth in nine years. The New York Rangers have also turned it on since reshaping their team before the trade deadline, and they're hoping to catch the Leafs and others in the Eastern Conference race.
Seeking their fifth win in six games, the Leafs host the Rangers - winners of four straight in Toronto - in the opener...
One look at the standings is all that is needed to see that making the postseason is not a virtual lock for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
With 11 games remaining in the regular season, The Blue and White currently reside fifth in the Eastern Conference, but their playoff status remains perilous in spite of that lofty position, as they enter a critical week starting with their match...
from Dave Feschuk of the Toronto Star,
Whether Lupul’s injury is significant or not is a matter for another day. He wasn’t available for comment after the game. And while Leafs coach Randy Carlyle reported that Lupul felt “fine,” pronouncing him “50-50” to participate in Friday’s practice, it was difficult to know what to make of the coach’s assessments. Though...

With both the Rangers and Islanders winning tonight, the Sabres are now six points out from the final spot. The only team that really helped the Sabres was the Toronto Maple Leafs, who beat New Jersey, 2-1.
But still, if the Sabres can find a way to beat New Jersey tomorrow night, then they'd be four points behind the Islanders for 8th. The Devils just played tonight and...
