From Russia With Glove
English Russia

As you've all heard by now, Dustin Penner and Alec Martinez are on the IR and have been replaced by the cheaper and more efficient labor of Russians. With both Andrei Loktionov and Slava Voynov heading to Los Angeles from Manchester, I haven't seen this many Russians invading the West Coast since Red Dawn. After Alex Frolov, the Kings history of young Russian players (sorry, Alex Ponikarovsky) doesn't run all that deep. Names like Vitali YachmenevDenis Grebeshkov and Maxim Kuznetsov are the most talented young Russians that have come through the Kings system. But let's be honest here... I mean, most Russian players don't even want to play in Los Angeles.

They just don't have the same quality borscht in LA that they do in Newark.

But this is Hollywood, after all. And when producers see a young hot commodity that everyone is talking about, there is only one thing to do... get them into a movie

"Bobby Ryan... I must break you."

Of course, as a producer, in order to get the best performance from your actors... you might have to dig deep into their personal lives and see how willing they are to have their daily conflicts portrayed on the big screen. That's why I think Andrei Loktionov and Terry Murray are perfect for the remake of a late 1980s buddy action flick!

Surprisingly enough, Terry Murray's had a more successful movie career than Jim Belushi.

Since this is the first time that Slava Voynov and Andrei Loktionov will be playing together in Los Angeles... perhaps they are more suited for a role in a classic, fish-out-of-water, buddy comedy that honors their Russian heritage?

"Doctor."

Maybe these exciting, young players are exactly what a tired, old franchise needs?

One thing is for sure. Just in case these Russian boys get out of line and disrespect the amazing country that they will be playing hockey in... the Kings have one man that can set them straight on how to be a Proud American.

Either Jim Fox just ordered the American Meat Lovers from Dominos...
or he's about to open a square box of whoopass on Voynov and Loktionov.

Most movies featuring young stars cashing in on a pop culture presence usually tank at the box office. So maybe the Los Angeles Kings are taking the right approach when it comes to getting the faces of their new Russian stars all over the streets of Los Angeles.

Well at least it's catchier than the Kings last ad campaign.

I, for one, am excited to see what the Russian Revolution brings to the Los Angeles Kings. And as for the uproar over Andrei Loktionov playing on the left wing instead of his natural center? Well, just remember... Scott Parse scored 2 more goals as Mike Richards' left wing than Dustin Penner has. So I'll take my chances with Loktionov.

"I fight to win for me, for me!"

Anaheim has no answers for slow start

In a perfect world the Anaheim Ducks would only be required to show up for the third period and begin their season in February. Ever since their Stanley Cup season in 2006-07, the Ducks, like clockwork, have gotten off to slow starts. Their record through 17 games the past five seasons is a combined 36-38-11. That includes a 6-8-3 start to this season, with only two victories in...

Perry Struggling To Follow Up MVP Season

Corey Perry may have won the MVP in 2010/11 but he isn’t looking like he will be in the running this year.  After 17 games played he has 11 points.  This puts him on pace for a 53 point season, which would be his lowest total since 2006/07. Perry has become the target for his opposition.  Teams have keyed in on him more than his teammates - especially Ryan Getzlaf and Teemu...

Home-and-home series might just fire up the Kings and Ducks

Projected to compete for the Pacific Division and Western Conference lead, the Kings and Ducks instead are struggling for stability as they prepare for their first encounters this season, a home-and-home series that begins Wednesday at Staples Center. The Kings, still seeking production from their bottom six forwards, have won three of their last 10 games. Their efforts have been...

Ducks Make Moves; Prepare for Kings

Having won only two games in the past 12, the Ducks will need to do something, fast, to turn things around.  Nothing like a good old-fashioned rivalry with the team up the road to get you motivated! The Ducks will play the Los Angeles Kings in a back to back series on Wednesday at Staples Center and then Thursday night at the Honda Center.  There will be no time to lose momentum...

Opportunities arise for Voynov, Loktionov

Waiting must have been the hardest part for two talented Los Angeles Kings prospects. Slava Voynov and Andrei Loktionov, already armed with encouraging, though brief, NHL performances, will be back in the lineup when the Kings take part in the season's first two installments of the Freeway Faceoff against the Anaheim Ducks at STAPLES Center on Wednesday and Honda Center on Thursday...

Ducks claim Hagman off re-entry waivers

The Anaheim Ducks claimed veteran left wing Niklas Hagman off of re-entry waivers on Monday

Ducks-Kings Preview

With some of the best forwards in the game, the Anaheim Ducks' scoring woes certainly come as a surprise. Things aren't about to get any easier with a home-and-home set against one of the league's stingiest defenses. The Ducks try to avoid an eighth loss in nine games when they visit the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday night. Three-time 30-goal scorer Bobby Ryan, two...

Puck Daddy chats with Bobby Ryan about the Ducks’ struggles

It's not been the best three weeks for the Anaheim Ducks, who are 6-8-3 heading into their Battle of California matchup with the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday night. They're 2-5-3 in their last 10 games, including a 1-2 homestand after a long Eastern Conference road trip. A bit more concerning: Jonas Hiller is 5-7-3 in 15 games with a rather large 3.10 GAA; meanwhile,...

Offensively challenged Ducks pick up Hagman
