Sharks' Demers out, Kennedy questionable for Flyers

Defenseman Jason Demers will miss his second straight game with a lower body injury when the Sharks host the Flyers on Monday night. Todd McLellan would not get into much detail about Demers’ injury, other than to say he hurt it skating and it’s not an ankle or a knee. Defenseman Matt Tennyson, who has yet to play in an NHL game this season, in en route from Worcester. The...

Stalock's free agency status depends on playing time

Sharks goalie Alex Stalock’s next contract could depend on more than just his performance. Stalock, currently listed as a pending restricted free agent on Capgeek.com, would become a Group 6 unrestricted free agent at season's end unless the team greatly increases the backup’s workload. The 26-year-old would have to play at least 30 minutes in 14 more regular season or...

WATCH: Joe Thornton undresses Corey Crawford on shootout goal

Joe Thornton never heard his name called for a shootout for three seasons before the current campaign. Now he’s three-for-three in shootout goals this year, and after laying waste to Corey Crawford with a beautiful toe-drag move in the Sharks 2-1 shootout win over the Blackhawks last night, he might be getting the skills competition call more often. Observe: One more time: I...

Joe Thornton scores a ‘Datsyukian’ shootout goal

Jumbo Joe hasn’t played particularly well since getting a new 3 year, 6.75 AAV contract extension a week ago, but he has been clutch. Thornton (no points in his last 4 games) scored an OT winner last week against Minnesota and this shootout tying beauty last night. I guess Joe has been practicing these two moves lately, though he didn’t execute it as well:   The post Joe Thornton...
