Tyler Seguin is no longer a Boston Bruin. The team announced Thursday that the 21-year-old winger, along with fellow forward Rich Peverley and Providence defenseman Ryan Button, has been traded to the Dallas Stars in exchange for Loui Eriksson and three prospects. The move ends a three-year tenure in Boston for Seguin, whom the Bruins selected second overall in the 2010 draft. After leading the team in goals and points in 2011-12, Seguin’s play became inconsistent this season, prompting head coach Claude Julien to drop him from the second line. Both he and Peverley, a key contributor on Boston’s Stanley Cup championship team three years ago, struggled this past postseason. Seguin managed just one goal and seven assists — his eight points ranking ninth among Bruins scorers — in 22 games while Peverley tallied two goals and zero assists and was a healthy scratch for one game during the Toronto series. In return, the Bruins receive a talented three-zone forward in Eriksson. The 27-year-old Swede’s stats dipped a bit this season (12 goals, 17 assists), but he has scored more than 25 goals in each of his last four full seasons and led the Stars with 71 points in 2011-12. The deal will also send a trio of young players to Boston: defenseman Joe Morrow (a 2011 first-round pick) and wingers Reilly Smith and Matt Fraser. Smith and Fraser both saw time with Dallas this season, while Morrow finished the season with the AHL’s Texas Stars after being traded from Pittsburgh at the trade deadline.
