Has Alexander Semin’s time come and gone in a Washington Capitals jersey? I sure believe so due to the lackluster performance from the Russian winger the past two years. And I’m not just talking about his performance in the playoffs, I also mean the regular season. Everyone must remember, a team must play well in the regular season to make it to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, therefore exceptionally good play is required for those 82 games prior to the post-season.
Alexander Semin has never been a consistent hockey player, even in his days prior to Washington. However since Semin’s first full season in a Capitals sweater, his numbers have fluctuated greatly each and every season. In his first season playing over 60 games (06-07), Semin played in 77 games and had 73 points (38 G, 35 A). Not too bad for a first full season in the NHL.
